Lilina (Japanese: リリーナ Lilina) is the daughter of Hector and best friends with Roy. She made a brief appearance at the end of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade with Roy. Her starting class is a mage, and she has a custom battle sprite. She is first playable at the beginning of Chapter 8 in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.
Biography
Early life
Lilina was born in the year 985, five years after his father Hector defeated Nergal at the Dragon's Gate; her mother is not canonically identified, but in the gameplay of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade she can potentially be Lyn, Florina or Farina. At the age of ten, she and Hector receive a visit from Eliwood and his son Roy from Pherae, Roy was there introduced to her, and the two became close friends.
The Disturbance of Bern
Lilina and Roy, being childhood friends, studied together in Ostia under the tutelage of General Cecilia. When war broke out between the Lycian Alliance and Bern, Eliwood sent for his son Roy to return to Pherae. When he arrived, he found his castle overrun by bandits, with Lilina and Eliwood inside. Roy defeated the bandits, saving them both. When the three are reunited, Eliwood told Lilina to return to Ostia, as Marquess Hector was absent, and she, being his daughter, should take over the throne while awaiting her father's return, to reassure her people of the present war. Lilina obeys and heads for Ostia, but not before leaving Roy's protection to her trusted knight, Bors.
Lilina headed back to Ostia, but upon arrival, unfortunately and without knowing why, she was captured and taken hostage inside a room in her own castle, just as an Ostian rebellion led by General Legance broke out. With the assistance of the Ilian mercenaries – Zelot, Trec and Noah – Roy challenged the rebellion and, for the first time in the city's history, successfully invaded Castle Ostia to defeat Legance and rescue Lilina, he told her about the death of her father, Lord Hector, in the castle of Araphen. After the battle, Lilina showed Roy where Durandal, the Blazing Blade, is. She then traveled with Roy and company for the remainder of his journey.
At the end of the game, if Lilina is still alive, regardless of the game's ending, she returned to Ostia to rebuild the war-ravaged region. If she reaches an A support with Roy, both attended the coronation of Guinivere as the new Queen of Bern, then returned to Lycia to rebuild together the war-ravaged country and finally the two married and united Lycia into a single kingdom.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
Lilina is a only female mage character in The Binding Blade. Her survival in her chapter is required to acces its sidequest chapter and obtain the Durandal sword.
In the tutorial, Lilina is the only mage who joins Roy's practice army along with Wolt, where he practices fighting Bors as a boss.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lilina joins in Chapter 8 at level 1, making her under-leveled and weak at base level, but with potential to grow. She should be kept away from danger, as she has poor durability and cannot survive most attacks. Her base stats are low and she struggles to contribute early on, but her high magic growth and her decent resistance can lead her to deal significant magic damage and receive very little damage from enemy magic users with enough dedication. She is required to stay alive during her join chapter in order to obtain the Durandal sword, otherwise, the player cannot access the true ending.
Once Lilina joins, she has much more competition than Lugh and later Hugh, and fielding her is difficult to justify because of her low base stats. Her base magic is low, so her damage output is unimpressive. Her speed is too low to double, and she will get doubled herself by most enemies; as her HP and defense are also low, her main weakness are the enemies that are speedy in doubling her (such as Myrmidons), those using brave weapons that can one-round her, and the ones who have an high chance to crit her, defeating her in one-hit (such as Berserkers, Swordmasters and those who wield killer weapons such as the Killing Edge). Her skill is also low, so she will be inaccurate with any tome except Fire. These flaws are mitigated only after long-term training, which takes significant time and effort due to her weak start, and may be difficult to justify when such dedication could be put towards a unit that already contributes. Lilina's presence and training is also particularly harmful to ranked runs, as chapters will require more turns to complete as to allow Lilina to gain experience (Including the use of Arenas); this can harm the player's tactics ranking.
The payoff for training Lilina is a unit with a very high magic stat. Most enemies in The Binding Blade, even on Hard mode, have fairly low resistance, which Lilina can deal significant damage against, even other high-resistance magic users and Pegasus Knights. This power can be strengthened with the powerful Forblaze and supports from units with the Fire, Wind, and Anima affinities; while increasing Lilina's Anima level and growing her supports may take some time, dedicating experience and resources to Lilina will already encourage a slower pace. It should be noted that with her very high magic stat, Lilina is one of the few units capable of causing huge amounts of damage to enemy manaketes without the need to use legendary weapons or weapons that cause extra damage against them, defeating them or at least leaving them with very little HP, especially when attacking from a distance. Also, Lilina fights better against all other magic users with her high resistance; she even tends to go against the Trinity of Magic, as she can defeat even shamans and druids, the only dark magic users, despite the dark magic strength against anima, since Lilina is very little affected by the disadvantage penalty. Even so, she does not perform well as a boss killer due to her lack of skill and accuracy, when units with more speed and skill such as Rutger or Dieck can perform better in this role.
Once she is promoted to Sage, Lilina is the unit that heals huge amounts of HP with staves such as Heals and Mends, much more than other staffbots. However, she starts at an E-rank in staves and training her in staves is even more difficult to justify, so it is very likely that she cannot use the Physic or the best staffs in the game, such as Fortify, Sleep, Silence or Berserk, and so it is impossible for her to be a candidate to use the Staff of the Saint.
Aside from serving as a staffbot, Lilina also has utility outside of combat as a unit responsible for some recruitments in the game such as axe wielders like Gonzalez and Garret. Without Lilina, it is impossible to recruit them.
Comparison with Lugh
Lilina is comparable to Lugh, both early-joining mages, though Lugh joins several chapters earlier. In terms of stat growths, and assuming that both are at the same level, Lilina's magic growth is very high and better than Lugh's by a significant margin and her luck stat is higher than him, but Lugh's speed and skill is higher than Lilina's, allowing him to hit and double enemies Lilina cannot, despite having the same constitution of 4. Almost all her other stats are a bit lower than him. He is also available for five more chapters in a more challenging segment of The Binding Blade—the early game. While the decision may overwhelmingly favour Lugh, he is not very good at fighting manaketes, as he causes very little damage to them, unlike Lilina. She still faces competition with another anima magic user: Hugh.
Comparison with Hugh
Compared to Hugh, Lilina still beats him with her very high magic stat growth. However, the situation may vary: Hugh's performance depends on how much money is paid to recruit him into the army (5,000 G - 10,000 G), but this not affect very much, since if Hugh is paid with minimum value, each of his stats decrease by only one point. Hugh joins in chapter 16 in the mid-game as a level 15 mage, with average bases ang good groth rates. He can be promoted immediately to gain access to huge promotion gains and become a valuable asset to the player's army.
In terms of stat growths, and assuming that both are at the same level, Hugh's magic stat is weaker that Lilina's, but he has higher HP growth and better speed than her, similar to Lugh's case. In addition, Hugh has a very high constitution of 7 compared to 4 of Lilina's, making him much faster and giving him the advantage of using heavy tomes without weighing him down. Almost all her other stats are a bit lower than him. And Hugh is better staffbot than Lilina, since he is easy to train him in staves. Again, Hugh is not very good at fighting manaketes, as he causes very little or no damage to them, unlike Lilina. The three mages have much more competition for a Guiding Ring to promote to Sage. Ultimately, the decision to use Lugh, Hugh or Lilina comes down to whether or not the player is willing to wait to use Lilina or not. In addition, the decision and the ranked runs overwhelmingly favour the use of either Lugh and Hugh over Lilina, due to the difficulty needed to raise the mages, since depending of the situation, it might quite feasible to play through the entire game without using Lilina at all.
Overall, players who have a tendency to favoritism prefer to use Lilina throughout the game, while players who prefer units that contribute as the strongest of the game because of their good and balanced stat growths, they prefer Lugh and Hugh over Lilina.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
A ten-year-old Lilina appears in the extended epilogue of the Japanese and North American releases of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Her father Hector introduces her to Roy and Eliwood, and she and Roy play together afterwards. As the extended epilogue was removed from the PAL release she does not appear directly in the game in PAL regions. She is, however, referenced by Hector in his support conversations with Eliwood, along with Roy.[4] She is also referenced in Hector and his wife's epilogue, if he marries someone.[5]
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Lilina is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the The Binding Blade character set. She is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Champions of Yore DLC series, the second and third installments of Smash Brethren, and the second and third installments of Rogues & Redeemers; additionally, she also appears as an ally in Smash Brethren 1.

Personality and character
Lilina is a very kindhearted individual, who will often put the consideration of others before her own interests. Although she is of great social stature, she is not afraid to speak candidly to those below her, as shown in her support conversations with Gwendolyn and Ogier. [6] She inspires loyalty around her as her father did, since Legance realized that before his final battle against Roy.[7] Even her loyal Armor Knights think that protecting her is a form of battle. [8] On many occasions she has shown concern for her best friend Roy. [9] Even in some dialogues with Roy and company and a support conversation with Marcus, Lilina reveals that she has strong romantic feelings for Roy.[10] [11] [12] , although sometimes she prefers not to talk about it. [13]
Lilina never judges someone by their appearance, demonstrating this when recruiting Gonzalez; when she approaches him to speak to him without fear upon noticing his saddened look, he confesses that he is a monster, but she denies it, telling him that he is a human with great goodness inside. [14]
Lilina, though she is the heir to Ostia, is still unsure of herself. Cecilia acts as a mentor to Lilina, training her not only in magic but also giving her advice in how to be a leader.

Trivia
- In the Space World 2001 trailer of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, Lilina is shown to be playable in the first chapter; in the final game—outside of the tutorial map—she is instead recruited in Chapter 8. At what point in development this was changed and why is unknown.
- Should Hector marry someone in The Blazing Blade, in their epilogue is seen that he wanted to have a male son would have been named Uther after this character, but his wife preferred having a daughter. [5] As Lilina is never stated to have any brothers or sisters (She says this in her support dialogues with Ogier)[15], it is implied Hector never got the chance to do this.
- Hector's B-Rank support conversation with Eliwood has him dreaming of his not-yet-born daughter playing with a red-haired boy in the future, and him getting supremely annoyed at the possibility that he may lose his daughter to Eliwood's son.[4] Unfortunately for Hector, he's right, as Lilina ends up developing feelings for Roy and, depending on the player's actions, ends up marrying him.

- ↑ 4.0 4.1 "Eliwood: Something wrong, Hector? Was that a yawn I saw? Not the best battlefield manners.
Hector: Ah... It's nothing. Just, my dreams lately... [...] There was this man--a giant with a great beard--carrying a girl on his shoulders. The girl called to him "Father", and she was smiling, happy. [...] The man looked a bit like my own father, I suppose. But who is the little girl? Aye, she was a cute one.
Eliwood: What color was her hair?
Hector: Huh. Blue.
Eliwood: And the man's hair? His moustache?
Hector: His were bluish, too.
Eliwood: Then it is a vision of your own future! A great moustache, eh? [...]
Hector: If that is my future I'm not sure I like it. [...] The girl that would be my daughter... She gets taken away by this boy that appears later. ...A boy with red hair! Yes, it was red, I'm sure of it.
Eliwood: Don't get ahead of yourself! There are plenty of people with red hair...
Hector: Quiet! Now I'm sure-- the boy was a Pheraen. No matter how close we may be, I'll not--I'll not give up my daughter!
Eliwood: Hector! Let's hope your dream doesn't come true, eh? For my sake." — Eliwood and Hector's B support, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade - ↑ 5.0 5.1 "Hector: If it's a boy, we're going to name him Uther, after my brother. I'll teach him how to fight and raise him to be a strong man. We'll pit him against Eliwood's son to see who's the strongest.
Florina: Ah... Mark. If it's a girl..." — Hector and Florina's epilogue with the tactician, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade - ↑ "You are in a much higher position than we are... But you still come right down to talk to us with a smile on your face. It seems...odd." — Gwendolyn to Lilina in their A support, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade

Lilina: I-I... I'm sorry..." — Roy and Lilina in the Game Over, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Roy: I'm just glad you're all right, Lilina.

Gonzalez: Roy? Who’s Roy?
Lilina: Roy is this army’s leader. He’s not very strong, but... He’s very kind.

Lilina: Hm...? Yes... Yes, I like him very much." — Lilina and Gonzalez's B support, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Marcus: What troubles you, Lady Lilina?
Lilina: Marcus... What does...what does Roy think of me? I...I'm not so sure anymore.
Marcus: ......
Lilina: Roy... He's... I've always...liked him...
Marcus: Why not ask him yourself, milady?
Lilina: What...? But...

I'm certain Lord Roy would fall for you if you were to advance." — Lilina and Marcus's A support, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Marcus! Roy and I are friends. Just friends! - ↑ "Lilina: Yes! You can fight with us. We're protecting the villagers.
Gonzalez: ...No... I monster... People mean to me... People throw stones... People say "Go away!" "You a monster!" ... Not human...
