Hawkeye (Japanese: ホークアイ Hawkeye) is a playable berserker in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is the guardian of Nabata and the father of Igrene.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
Hawkeye is the legendary "Guardian of the Nabata Desert" protecting those who live there from the outside world. He was trained since his youth to do this task, and also trains his only daughter Igrene to do the same thing once he passes away. During his service he meets Athos, as well as his apprentice and Count and of Reglay of Eturia Pent and his wife Louise, whom he aided in their quests. Once Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn travel to the Nabata Desert to seek out Athos, Hawkeye is sent out by Athos to aid the trio in meeting him. After their meeting, Hawkeye travels with the lords in their adventure to defeat Nergal. After Nergal is defeated, Hawkeye returns to the Desert to be it's Guardian. During the war against Bern 20 years later, Igrene is now the Guardian of the Nabata Desert, so it can be speculated that Hawkeye passed away before the events of The Binding Blade.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Hawkeye is the first and only pre-promoted Berserker to join your army, and the only Berserker you get within the game if you decide to sell the Ocean Seal. His growth rates are mediocre in most stats, but that hardly matters for most of the game since he comes with more than decent stats at base. With the highest base HP of all playable units and decent base defense and resistance, he is probably one of the most durable units you'll have at this point of the game, and his high strength and crit rate allow him to hit hard as well. He also got a high constitution base and an A rank in axes, allowing him to wield pretty much every axe you want him to without bothering about their weight, which is especially helpful since high rank axes aren't as demanded as high rank lances and swords, and they give him a weapon triangle advantage over lances, which are the preferred weapon type of physical enemies at this point of the game.
On the other hand, his base speed and speed growth are pretty shaky for his join time, making it hard for him to double faster enemies, and while his defensive stats aren't bad, Hawkeye can get overwhelmed by hard-hitting promoted enemies or large numbers of unpromoted ones if he doesn't get healed up from time to time, since he relies on HP first and defense second in order to tank hits. Luckily there are ways to compensate for this issues: for his speed, you can give him the Brave Axe so he can hit stronger enemies two times without doubling them, or use a Speedwing after he got a speed proc on a levelup, which increases to the value of his attack speed to the point which is generally considered high enough to double most generic enemies in the game. His bulk is fine as long as you have a staff user that can keep his health up, but can additionally be patched up by using a Pure Water for more resistance, or simply by adding an Elixir in his inventory so Hawkeye can heal himself up on player phase in case you require your staff users for other purposes.
Since Hawkeye is in the Berserker class, he can walk on peak and sea tiles in addition to the terrain tiles land units can traverse anyway. This adds him another way to increase his defensive capabilities by using one of the many peaks in the upcoming maps to receive a great increase in avoid and a small defense boost. It also allows him to traverse parts of the map only fliers could normally pass, which in theory gives him additional usefullness through additional mobility over other footlocked units; however he faces such heavy movement penalties when doing so that it's often easier to use an unpromoted Florina or another mounted unit with sufficient aid (here Hawkeye's high con acts against him, making it hard to find decent mounted units that can carry him around) to just rescue Hawkeye to his destination and drop him off on a sea or peak tile if it benefits his positioning.
All in all, Hawkeye is a good prepromoted unit due to his bulkiness and high attack power that gets held back by the lack of mounted mobility and good choices when it comes to getting rescue-dropped ahead.

Personality and character
Hawkeye is reserved and short-spoken, he rarely speaks longer than necessary. During his recruitment, Hawkeye curtly explains to Eliwood/Hector that he will drive off the bandits and then immediately departs, leaving them bewildered.[4] No matter who he is speaking to, Hawkeye's dialogue always remains terse and to the point.
Hawkeye maintains a stoic demeanor, even in the face of death. When speaking to Louise, Hawkeye requests that she give his wife's necklace to his daughter, Igrene, should he fall in battle, knowing that Igrene will understand without conversation.[2] He is resolute when contemplating his mortality and is satisfied with fulfilling his duty as guardian of Nabata.

Trivia
- One of Hawkeye's death quotes was mistranslated and mistakenly refers to Igrene as his sister rather than his daughter.
- Both of Hawkeye's sprite[clarification needed] and battle animations are unique and are different from other Berserkers.
