Prince Leif, if you weren't lying about wanting my forgiveness, you must lend me your strength! I must reclaim Ulster... I must undo my father's regrets, and give meaning to his meaningless death!
— Miranda to Leif in Chapter 16B: Dark Forest

Miranda (Japanese: ミランダ Miranda) is a playable mage in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

In Grann 762, Miranda's family, the royal family of Ulster, began to harbor Prince Leif of Leonster, as well as Finn, Nanna, and Lachesis.[1] Three years later, when the Grannvale Empire invaded Ulster on the pretext that they were harboring Prince Leif, Miranda was turned over to the invading forces as a hostage, and her father was killed.[1]

She spent the next several years imprisoned in Ulster castle, although Count Conomor of Ulster was able to watch over her.[2] In Grann 776, due to rebellions in Leonster and Tahra, as well as rumors of rebellion in Ulster itself, she was moved to the Loptyrian temple in Millefeuille Forest.[2]

Later that year, she was freed by Leif and joined with his liberation army as they passed through the forest. After the retaking of Leonster, she urged Leif to move south to where a rebellion was brewing in her home of Ulster.[3] When the rebellion failed, she reunited with Conomor on the battlefield, ordering him and his unit to join with Leif's army.[4]

Her part in the later war, if any, is unknown, as she does not appear in Genealogy of the Holy War.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Miranda is a playable character. In Chapter 16B, she is recruited if Leif ends his turn on the gate where the boss, Linecock, starts the map on. In Chapter 19, Miranda can talk to an enemy Conomor, recruiting him.

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Miranda joins late in the game at a low level. Her unimpressive base stats make it difficult to train her, and even when trained, she is redundant as a magic user because the game is full of powerful magic users like Asbel, Homer, Linoan and Sara. Sara in particular overshadows her, joining in the same chapter with better offensive bases and healing utility, and five Action stars. Miranda has better physical durability than Sara but both are very frail, and while her FCM is 1 instead of 0, it is still too low to be reliable. Her low HP and defense prevent her from taking on more than a few non-magical enemies on the enemy phase, especially at base level where she risks dying in one hit. In her starting chapter alone, every physical enemy (except the Dancer) can one-shot her, and even the Dark Mages are dealing too much damage to take more than a hit.

Her promotion to Mage Knight, while giving her decent bonuses and more mobility outdoors, also causes her to take stat penalties indoors, especially in movement, where she loses 1 movement after promotion indoors. This reduces her utility during the last few maps of the game, all of which take place indoors. Also, while this promotion gives Miranda access to swords, she should not use them due to her low strength and constitution, and only having an E rank upon promotion.

For advantages, Miranda does sport high magic and speed growths, a good skill growth, and Wrath—while this allows her to deal massive damage when counterattacking, it is limited by her poor durability. She can also use Meteor after promotion due to her relatively high fire level. Finally, she gives Conomor a 20% support bonus, increasing his hit and critical hit rates. However, the player should be careful not to expose her to any enemies when deploying her for this purpose.

Overall, Miranda is very fragile at base level, and has no niche that she fulfills when she is trained up.

Miranda, Willful Princess
While waiting in Ulster for Leif's answer, Miranda fell hopelessly in love with another knight. While still possessed of a short temper and prone to misunderstandings, she leads a happy life as a wife and mother.

Miranda is the princess of Ulster, a kingdom in northern Thracia. She's got a fiery, uncompromising personality. No one can keep her down! The kingdoms that make up the northern portion of the Thracian peninsula once formed an alliance, with Leonster at its center. In doing so, they were pretty successfully able to ward off invaders from other neighboring countries. Miranda's home kingdom of Ulster was part of that alliance as well! However, Leonster fell after an invasion by the Kingdom of Thracia and the Grannvale Empire, and Ulster came under Grannvale's control as well. Miranda was captured and made a hostage of the empire. But even during her captivity, Miranda showed no sign of giving in. No matter how bad her situation became, she would always remember her vow to liberate her kingdom!

  1. 1.0 1.1 "Miranda: All of this began when Leonster fell. My lord father was a gentle man, who hadn't the heart for battle – and he knew there was little sense in fighting the Empire. But nevertheless, he took you in, sheltered you from the Empire – and in so doing, invited their wrath! He had to turn me over to them as a hostage and forfeit his own right to the throne! And in the end, he departed this world in a state of utter misery... I cannot forgive you, Prince! If you'd never come to Ulster, things wouldn't be like this...
    Leif: ...
Dryas: ...Princess Miranda, I must beg to differ. The Empire planned to conquer Ulster all along. Prince Leif's presence was merely a convenient excuse to do so.
" — Miranda, Leif, and Dryas in Chapter 16B, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
  2. 2.0 2.1 "...Well, admittedly, I haven't been imprisoned in this dreary monastery the whole time. Until last year, I was being kept in Ulster. Count Conomor watched over me from afar, and I was comfortable enough. But then came the insurrections in Tarrah and Leonster... That stoked the fires of revolution, and even in Ulster, a contingent of the people plotted rebellion. Evidently, the Empire feared their position was becoming too vulnerable, and so I was moved to this dreadful place." — Miranda in Chapter 16B, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
  3. "The citizens are plotting rebellion – but they don't stand a chance on their own. Help them, Prince Leif! Save the people of Ulster, as they once saved you!" — Miranda in Chapter 18, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
  4. "Miranda: The enemy isn't Leonster, you fool! The enemy is the Empire! Command the Knights of Ulster to aid in Leonster's retreat! As ruler, I hereby declare that all of Ulster is part of Prince Leif's Liberation Army! Their mission is now our own!
    Conomor: As you command, milady!
