Fire Emblem Fates

You are too kind, milady. Though in truth, I still have much to learn. That said, I am here to help in any way I can, Lord/Lady Corrin.
— Yukimura

Yukimura (Japanese: ユキムラ Yukimura) is a character in Fire Emblem Fates. A tactician in the employ of the Hoshidan queen Mikoto, Yukimura is playable solely in the Birthright campaign, and is one of two playable characters playable in that campaign (the other being Izana) who is not playable in the Revelation campaign.

Fire Emblem Fates

In the subsequent war that breaks out between Hoshido and Nohr, Yukimura is tasked with the defence of the Hoshidan capital from the Nohrian invasion. Later, he deploys a Sky Knight to send a letter to the the Hoshidan royal family to update them on his current situation. In the letter, Yukimura reveals that he is struggling to hold the line of defense in Hoshido as the Ninja of Mokushu have defected and allied themselves with Nohr.

If the player upgrades any of the Automaton puppets to level 3, Yukimura will appear and offer Corrin his services. Assuring Corrin that he has left the capital and palace well-defended with automatons, he decides to join them in light of the strength that they have built up.

Yukimura subsequently aids Corrin's effort to put an end to the age-old conflict shared between Hoshido and Nohr. Yukimura also appears at the end of the game, after the war is over and a peace treaty is thereafter signed between Hoshido and Nohr; following which Yukimura crowns Ryoma as the new king of Hoshido.

Yukimura is shown late in the game, where he, alongside Sakura and her retainers, stages a defense in Fort Jinya in a bid to halt the impending Nohrian invasion. Shortly before the start of the battle, Yukimura tries, but fails, to convince Sakura to retreat into the castle, as she resolves to fight in order to protect Hoshido. Shaken by her mettle, Yukimura acquiesces after making arrangements to keep Sakura protected during the course of battle. Despite the valiant defence staged by the Hoshidans, the Hoshidan forces are eventually defeated, and Yukimura calls for them to lay down their weapons and surrender. He then informs Xander of their decision and pleads with him to spare Sakura. Although reluctant, Corrin subsequently takes both Yukimura and Sakura as prisoners of war. At this point, Hans and Iago enter the scene with Garon, whereupon Hans embarks on a killing spree, prompting Yukimura to vehemently question Xander's promise to spare the lives of the surrendered soldiers. He is later hauled away while in the midst of cursing the Nohrians, vowing to never forgive them.

Yukimura makes his first appearance where he, Saizo and Orochi are stationed at Fort Jinya after the battle between Hoshido and Nohr in the Plains of Hoshido concludes. Corrin eventually arrives at the fort in hopes of gaining support from Hoshido, but Yukimura refuses, viciously branded him/her a traitor and orders his men to attack on sight. Despite the best efforts of the Hoshidan army, they are eventually defeated. Yukimura expresses confusion and asks why Corrin did not kill him, only for them to remain cryptic and continue asking for the cooperation of Hoshido. Yukimura still refuses to help, saying he will not betray Hoshido. Saizo, unable to withstand what he considers to be Corrin's nonsense, then attempts to blow himself up to take them out. Fortunately, Kaze and Sakura enter the scene and manage to convince Saizo otherwise. Knowing the inherent kindness of Corrin, Sakura makes the decision to pledge herself to their cause. Yukimura initially protests Sakura's decision, but backs down once he recognizes her earnestness, asking her to stay safe on the journey. He later lets Corrin's party leave the fort without any further opposition.

Yukimura next appears where he fiercely defends Castle Shirasagi from a Nohrian invasion alongside Hinoka. Ryoma and Scarlet enter the scene shortly thereafter and aid him in clearing the area of foes. Ryoma and Scarlet reveal to Yukimura that they encountered Corrin in Nestra, and asked them to help. Yukimura recalls the same thing Corrin had said to him. Hinoka later joins in on the conversation and decides to join Ryoma to help Corrin out and task Yukimura with protecting the castle. Before leaving, Yukimura asks them to stay safe and not to complain if their rooms get destroyed during the battle.

My Castle quotes

The final tally will favor me if I keep this up...
— Yukimura, gaining a surge at My Castle.
Preparation is key to victory. The enemy could strike at any time.
— Yukimura, gaining weapon experience at an event tile or My Castle.
Hm? What do we have here?
— Yukimura, finding at item at an event tile or My Castle.
As an aide to the royal family, I try to keep my appearance up to date.
— Yukimura asking for an accessory.
However, I can't let my concern for appearances hold me from my duties.
— Yukimura being denied an accessory.
I am genuinely moved that you would remember my birthday, Lord/Lady Corrin.
— Yukimura receiving an accessory he likes on his birthday.

Battle quotes

This battle is truly lamentable. It would have broken Lady Mikoto's heart to watch these events unfold...
— Yukimura, as an enemy in Conquest Chapter 6
Yukimura: So, here we are. You have come back to us, but with a blade in hand. I suppose it's safe to surmise you have no intention of returning to Hoshido?
Corrin: You are correct. Nohr is my home. It's where I belong.
Yukimura: How very upsetting. If Lady Mikoto were to hear this, it would break her heart. Then again, she may have smiled and said, "It is his/her path to choose."
Corrin: Yukimura...
Yukimura: But such talk is pointless, for our dear queen has left this realm. As for myself, I am above all a tactician for the honorable Hoshidan army. As such, I am obligated to prevent you from returning to Nohr!

— Yukimura, fighting Corrin in Conquest Chapter 6
My brain against your brawn...Let us see who comes out on top!
— Yukimura, as the boss of Conquest Chapter 22
Yukimura: I will defend this fort and Hoshido, until death if I must. Though seeing us fight would have destroyed Queen Mikoto, it must be so.
Corrin: This is not how I would have wanted this to end either, Yukimura. But here we brace yourself!

— Yukimura, fighting Corrin in Conquest Chapter 22
Lady Mikoto... I hope you understand what I must do, wherever you are... I will deal with those who would harm Hoshido...
— Yukimura, as the boss of Revelation Chapter 8.

Death/retreat quotes

— Yukimura's defeat voice clip
It's important to know when to retreat in battle... right now being a fine example.
— Yukimura's defeat quote in Casual Mode
It seems I did not plan for all eventualities. I must retreat immediately.
— Yukimura's defeat quote in Classic Mode
I must withdraw... Forgive me Lady Mikoto...
— Yukimura's defeat quote in Conquest Chapter 6
Lady Mikoto....I am sorry.
— Yukimura's defeat quote in Conquest Chapter 22.
Can this really be true?! it... I admit defeat...
— Yukimura's defeat quote in Revelation Chapter 8.
