Kinship's Bond/Script (Eliwood) and Kinship's Bond/Script (Hector)
The Four Fangs gather on a snowy mountain fortress in Bern, where Sonia orders them to find and kill Eliwood. Lloyd and Linus clash with Sonia, but agree to follow the mission.
In a fortress on the border of Ostia, Hector, Eliwood, and Lyn await Uther's arrival. Hector explains that Uther chose to speak at the fort to avoid foreign spies in Ostia. As the lords talk, Nils suddenly collapses, causing Ninian to panic. The lords quickly come to Nils's side and Hector suggests they move him to a room where a healer can look after him. Ninian rejects his suggestion, saying that they must not move Nils; Ninian does not explain why, but Eliwood agrees to do as she says. Outside the fortress, Eubans and Heath have managed to catch up to Eliwood and his company. Eubans tells Heath that their mission is to wipe out the entire group. Heath questions Eubans's orders due to Marquess Laus's apparent abandonment, but Eubans states that they have no other options. Heath continues to protest, but falls in line once Eubans threatens to turn him over to Bern. The Ostian soldiers take notice of the enemy force and inform Hector that they are under attack, thus beginning the battle.
Soon after the battle starts, mercenaries under the command of Rath arrive to support Hector and his allies. If Lyn speaks with Rath, he offers his assistance to Lyn as he did a year prior. If Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, or Ninian talks to Heath, he—disillusioned with Eubans and his mercenaries—offers to surrender, but is instead convinced to aid them directly. The battle ends with Eubans's death and the subsequent call for retreat, or with Eubans learning that Marquess Ostia is on en route, prompting Eubans to order a retreat.
Once Uther arrives, he jokes Hector about Hector's long absence, then apologizes to Eliwood for being unable to prevent Elbert's death. Uther only knows what was included in Leila's final report, and does not know what Nergal intends to do; Eliwood informs him that Nergal aims to bring back the Dragons from The Scouring. The news unnerves Uther and he asks for some time to devise a plan, which Hector notes as unusual. Separate from Uther; Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn consider their options: uniting Elibe against Nergal would be difficult, as their story is so unbelievable—instead, they resolve to stop Nergal themselves. Uther is hesitant to make them solely responsible for such a task but agrees to aid them as much as possible. The group then consults with Ninian as to Nergal's condition: Ninian is able to tell that he is East of Lycia, which Uther concludes means he must be in Bern. Despite Nergal's whereabouts, Uther tells Hector and his group to head in the opposite direction towards Missur and the Nabata Desert to seek out help in the form of a "living legend".
Before they depart for the desert, Uther pulls Hector aside and tells him to support Eliwood however he can. Hector notices that Uther's face is off-color, as if he were sick. Uther retorts that he is merely concerned about that the fate of the world being in the hands of one as haphazard as Hector. As Hector leaves, Uther orders him to return alive.

Intro: This is such cruelty to force on such an old woman! Finally, we come to a city, and I cannot get a bed? Oh, my poor back... Hm? Oh, yes. You want an augury. Work, work, work. Augury: Someone is ill...collapsed... This person cannot be moved. ...Illness will not stay your foe's hand, however... You must protect the fallen. Do not let your foes in. Mines and light runes can be used to block their path. Ah... I see a meeting. A sky rider... He carries justice in his heart... He might listen to one of your leaders. I have nothing more to add.
