— Safy to Lifis in Chapter 2x

Safy (Japanese: サフィ Safy) is a playable priest in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. She is a servant of Linoan[1] sent from Tarrah to look for people willing to stand up to the Grannvale Empire.

Biography

Safy was sent on a mission by Linoan to gather supporters against the Grannvale Empire. She ended up kidnapped by Lifis's Pirates. She was rescued by the Fiana Freeblades. Afterwards she decided to accompany the group to continue gathering supporters against the Empire.

When Leif was captured by the Empire, Safy managed to avoid imprisonment and escapes with the other Freeblades to elsewhere. Later, when the Freeblades were captured under suspicion of banditry by Hannibal's guard, Finn and Safy managed to escape and reunite with Leif as he flec Munster. Safy was able to convince Shiva before escaping with Leif back to Hannibal to accompany the Fiana Freeblades and her from then on.

Later, Safy reunited with her younger sister Tina in the base of the Dandelion Bandits; Tina was kidnapped by the bandits. Safy scolded Tina for leaving Tarrah alone, but was happy to see her nonetheless.

Safy accompanied Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation of Munster. Her involvement, if any, with the war after Leif's forces merged with Seliph's is unknown, as she does not appear in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Safy is the first healer available in Thracia 776, joining in Chapter 3, where she then becomes unavailable until Chapter 7. She offers exclusive staff utility, as she joins with a C rank and is only 10 weapon experience away from a B rank. From there, she will gain an automatic A rank when she promotes. Staves are incredibly useful in Thracia, especially the A-rank Warp staff, and Safy will be the only character who can use the majority of them before Salem joins (unless the player is willing to grind up Nanna's or Asbel's staff ranks).

She also joins with the Repair staff, which is exclusive to her. Because of the exorbitant amount of powerful personal weapons and staves available, it will be invaluable throughout the game.

With her +3 magic upon promotion and her 60% magic growth, which can be improved further through scrolls, Safy can reliably hit status staves on most enemies, even those with high magic. Additionally, while Safy does not have any combat capabilities at first, she gains access to light magic upon promotion, and due to the low quality of most enemies in Thracia, she can be used as a decent combat unit (though her durability will remain poor). While she has the highest strength growth out of the spellcasters in the game, it is completely useless for her since magic users cannot make use of said stat.

Safy is not without flaws. Her mobility is very low, so she will fall behind the army and be unable to offer healing without the Fortify or Physic staves. She also may miss with her staves at base, though she will on average reach 10 skill after nine levels, where she will maximize her accuracy with staves. Her low HP and defense mean that she will get one-shot by most enemy units, and she will get fatigued quickly. She can be left without any weapons to tempt enemies into capturing her, but any items must then be taken back from her captor, and failing to rescue her will render her unavailable until Chapter 21x. Also, regardless of constitution, mages will have their speed reduced by an amount equal to the tomes's weight, ignoring the usual formula for attack speed.

Compared to other staff users that join later, Safy lacks the combat parameters or Action Stars they have. However, the fatigue system means that other staff users will have to rest, and several late-game chapters like Chapter 24 will require multiple staff users, so she will remain useful throughout the game.

Personality

Safy is a devout individual dedicated to her charge Linoan. She tends to be concerned for her younger sister's well-bring; Tina tends to be oblivious and wander off. When Tina tells Safy about the horrible things Perne did to her she is initially very concerned, though she becomes incredulous when Tina says the only thing Perne did to her was put bugs on her face.

Endings

Safy, Servant to the Gods
After returning to Tarrah, Safy worked to help the poor and the underprivileged. It is said that she appeared as a goddess in the eyes of those she offered her hand to.

Safy comes from Tarrah, a free city on the Thracian peninsula of Jugdral. She’s a cleric who serves Linoan, the city’s duchess! The people of Tarrah had rebelled against the cruelty of the Grannvale Empire’s occupation and made Linoan their leader. However, the imperial army brought its might to bear, surrounding the city, and it seemed as though the rebellion was doomed. The only fighters left in Tarrah were a handful of volunteers and the townsfolk. Linoan entrusted Safy with the duty of finding warriors willing to come to Tarrah’s aid, and sent her on a journey across the lands of Thracia. But when her travels took her to the village of Iz, Safy was captured by pirates! I hope she’ll find a way to escape and carry out her mission!
