Yuliya is the only character in the game capable of wielding the Rescue staff, and effectively fills Elice's place as wielder of the Aum staff in Book 2.

- In Mystery of the Emblem, promotion gains for HP and Weapon Level consist of giving the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class's base value. If the character's value for one of those two stats is higher than their promoted class's base value, they will not receive any bonus in that stat.
Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Yuliya joins in Chapter 4 of Book 2 and immediately stands out as the only unit in Book 2 capable of using the Rescue staff she joins with. The Rescue staff is a useful utility tool which allows a player to transport units away from danger, among other uses. In the chapter she joins, there is already a good Rescue staff use—she can transport one of the player's main combat units to her location, allowing that unit to help save her and Jubelo from approaching enemies. Rescuing Marth to recruit Castor and reach the seize point more quickly is also a good option. The staff has plenty of good uses later in the game, such as in the desert chapters, but every strategy that involves it has to take into account the opportunity cost since it only has 5 uses.
Yuliya has one more staff which is exclusive to her and Elice: the Aum staff; as Elice joins in the final possible chapter of the game, Yuliya will be able to use that staff more. The Aum staff allows the user to revive a fallen unit; if the player reset to avoid any deaths prior, it will be of limited use, but it may also be limited in that, by the time it is obtained, units that can be revived may be significantly weaker than the enemies present. The Aum staff has 5 uses in Book 2, but only becomes available in part 2 of the endgame, so while having five resurrections sounds powerful, there is little time to use them. One way to take advantage of the Aum staff, however, is by using it to revive units who die in the endgame; as long as Yuliya is alive, she can use the staff to bring back a fallen unit, saving the player the choice of resetting or losing a unit.
Aside from the Rescue and Aum staves, Yuliya's base weapon level allows her use a number of strong staves—including Warp and Recover—and while she misses on being able to use some really useful staves such as Physic and Barrier for a while, her early availability and good weapon level growth allows her to increase her weapon level reliably, eventually allowing her to use them; if she promotes as soon as she reaches level 10, Yuliya is guaranteed to reach at least 12 weapon level which allows her to use any staff available in the game save for the Anew staff, which requires 20 weapon level and thus, further training.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Yuliya joins in Chapter 4 of New Mystery of the Emblem with the Rescue staff in her inventory. The Rescue staff is useful, since it allows the player to transport units away from danger; however, in New Mystery, Rescue is E-rank and not exclusive to Yuliya, so any staff user can make use of it at any time.
Yuliya's base C level in staves allows her to use many useful staves at base, such Physic, Warp and Barrier. However, Yuliya will need 120 staff experience—the equivalent of using a staff 60 times—to reach A staves; a promotion to Bishop will grant 30 additional staff experience and at level 10 she's likely to be at B rank (needed for Anew) if she was trained as a Cleric. Sage will delay the A staff rank compared to Bishop (which is required to use Fortify) but it also has slightly higher magic.
Yuliya's defensive stats are low, so she should be kept away from combat if she doesn't receive the proper investment (such as an Angelic Robe). Additionally, her base strength is 0 and she has as 0% growth, so she is best not reclassed to physical classes, and her magic base is fairly low, meaning that her initial damage output with tomes is unimpressive if reclassed to Mage. Yuliya only has weapon level in staves, and will only have the base weapon level of the class she changes into if she reclasses, typically E; as such, she is best reclassed to classes that can use staves, i.e. Bishop or Sage. As a female, Yuliya is able to use the powerful Nosferatu tome regardless of tome rank as a Mage, Sage or Bishop but lack of innate tome rank and a lower personal magic growth compared to someone like Marisha makes this an alternative of pretty minor value.
