“ | The Kingdom of Talys was a small country, without even its own order of knights, located at the frontier. | ” | — Mystery of the Emblem narration, on Talys |
---|
The Kingdom of Talys (Japanese: タリス Talis) was a young and shortlived island nation of Archanea, situated to the east of the mainland.
Prior to its kingdom, the territory of Talys was home to a number. In the year 579, this changed as a man named Mostyn, assisted by his friend General Lorenz of Grust, unified the warring tribes into a single kingdom under his rule. From there, the existence of Talys was largely uneventful – it had no sizable army or knightly order of its own, and so came to hire mercenaries to comprise its armed forces.
During the War of Shadows, the Dolhr Empire completely ignored the nation in its efforts to conquer the rest of the world, and so for the bulk of the war it played host to Marth, the errant Prince of Altea, and his knights after they fled Altea in its fall. For two years, Marth and his men occupied Talys's eastern fortress, biding their time in hiding until the Galder pirates launched an assault on the nation. Accompanied by Mostyn's daughter Caeda, Marth's army successfully drove off the invasion before, on the advice of Mostyn, leaving Talys to build a resistance army against Dolhr's grip on the world.
After the War of Heroes, Caeda – Mostyn's only heir – married Marth, and so Talys was absorbed into the Unified Kingdom of Archanea.
