New Companions/Script
The 7th Platoon is joined by Wrys, an elderly priest and healer. The day's opponent for combat training is Jeorge, an Archanean bowman who fought alongside Marth in the War of Shadows. The 7th Platoon defeats Jeorge in battle. Impressed by their skills, he asks his squire and Ryan's older brother Gordin to fight alongside them. Afterwards, Cain delivers an interim report based on how many of their allies have been injured and forced to withdraw.
That night, as Kris explores the Altean palace, they bump into Marth's older sister Elice. Elice explains that Marth is idealistic to a fault and asks Kris to protect him should they attain knighthood.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
Your new units are Caeda the Pegasus Knight and Wrys the Curate. Caeda is frail but very fast. She's fallen a bit from her glory days in Shadow Dragon due to more balanced enemy composition and stronger foes in general, but she can still help out quite a bit and she still supports Marth. Wrys is a basic healer. He won't hold up in the face of later healers, but since he's your only medic for the prologue he's perfectly fine here. Note that both of these characters will depart your army at the end of the prologue and rejoin early in the main story (Chapter 3x for Wrys, the end of 4 for Caeda), so keep that in mind when distributing experience. Finally, note that Knight Kris, Mage Kris, and Ryan need to reach 5 Speed by the end of this chapter in order to avoid being doubled going forwards.
The prospect of letting Jeorge attack on Lunatic can be charitably described as "suboptimal". His stats are sufficient to one-round everyone in the party except maybe a sufficiently strong Kris. The combination of his two range and the cramped quarters can also make your life very miserable. Fortunately, he and his two Archer buddies don't aggro immediately, so you can use that. Move Caeda south of Kris' starting position to form a vertical wall. The Fighter and Mercenaries will come down on you on turn 1. Kill them all on turn 2 and heal up. Then use Ryan to pull the Archers. If he grew HP in a previous chapter, he has grown Defense at any point, or at least one Archer low-rolls Strength, he can survive combat with both of them and you can put him on the pillars for a minor evasion boost and some extra experience. Otherwise, put him to the northwest of the pillars so that the Archers will body-block each other. This also aggros Jeorge. Also, make sure to put Caeda next to Ryan. If Jeorge selects the northwest of two available tiles at the end of his movement range, Caeda needs to be as close as possible to pin Jeorge down next turn. Kill the Archers, position your units to pin Jeorge against the wall, and don't let anyone be attacked by Jeorge. You can get away with leaving one Archer alive if you need to as long as Wrys heals Ryan and everyone else is at full health. Once you do this, it's checkmate.
At the end of the map, you are joined by Gordin, another Archer. He needs a point of Speed to survive combat as an Archer in Chapter 1, but he can also reclass to Hunter to get that Speed in exchange for an acceptable loss of bulk. He has better bases than Ryan across the board, but if both are trained he'll usually end up noticeably worse than Ryan in everything except Luck.
