Faye (Japanese: エフィ Efi) is a villager from Ram appearing in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. She was not present in Fire Emblem Gaiden and is a new addition to the cast introduced in the remake. She adores her childhood friend Alm to a somewhat extreme degree.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Role
Faye is a villager that joins Alm at the start of his journey. She did not exist in Fire Emblem Gaiden, and is a new character introduced in the remake.
As a new female villager unit, she has access to other classes the male villager units do not; these classes are pegasus knight and cleric. She also can become a cavalier or mage, class change options shared with male villager units, though she promotes from mage to priestess, while the male villager units will instead promote to sages if any of them become mages.
Faye is initially playable in the game's prologue; she is an optional character in the main part of the game and the player can opt to not recruit her to either Alm's or Celica's party. She does not have a major story role compared to Tobin or Gray. Her Base Conversations are written with her being in Alm's party in mind.

- In Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, promotion gains give the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class' base stats. If the character's stats are higher than their promoted class' base stats, they will not receive any bonus; however, if all stats are higher, then they will receive +1 to HP.
Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Faye is one of the 4 villagers you get in act 1, but she is the only female villager and as such is the only one that has access to female villager classes, those being Pegasus Knight and Cleric. She is the weakest villager along with Kliff and will need two levels to be able to promote. She comes with well balanced growth rates, allowing her to contribute in whichever class she picks.
Faye if promoted to Pegasus Knight will function similarly to Clair, being fairly frail, but getting a notable increase in speed. However, flying utility isn't particularly useful on Alm's route as there is lack of terrain to fly over. She will perform better in the Cavalier class due to getting additional bulk, not being weak to arrows and still keeping the high movement. Her performance in act 1 will be fairly mediocre, but she will be able to perform well in act 3 due to access to the Ridersbane, but will face competition from Mathilda and Clive in using it, not to mention Zeke and Mycen joining as well.
As a mage, Faye will get a significant boost in speed and with a single level or speed well from the Thief Shrine, Faye will be able to double soldiers in act 1. Due to most enemies having poor resistance she will also deal good chip damage in order for your other units to finish the enemy off. Faye will drop off in act 3 as her 4 movement will become detrimental as well as her poor durability and will need to use the mage ring or get warped by Silque to see any combat. Still, her contributions in act 1 are fairly notable, not to mention her very rare spell Freeze, making an enemy unit locked in place.
Faye makes for an amazing Cleric, as she gets early access to Physic, and later grabs Rescue and Anew for more utility. Her Rescue spell can be used with Silque's Warp for very useful hit-and-run strategies by allowing units to be warped far away to attack a dangerous foe then rescued back into safe terrain. She also supports Silque and will be able to perform healing loops with her due to healing taking away HP in Shadows of Valentia. Her most notable unique spell is Anew, essentially letting her assume a Dancer-esque role, though she learns the skill relatively late in the game. The hefty cost of 24 HP may be steep in certain situations, but the ability to give an ally unit an additional action is very powerful if used cleverly. Cleric Faye does have her weaknesses, she will be hard to train up due to her only offensive spell at base being Nosferatu, a spell that always has 60% hit, making training up Faye unreliable. The player could give her speed from the speed fountain in the Thief Shrine, but speed is a highly contested stat and is arguably better used on other units, most notably Silque as her spell list is better than Faye's and as such is a higher priority target for early-game investment. Faye will learn her best spell in act 3 or 4 and will also get Seraphim, a much better offensive spell. Overall, Cleric is Faye's best class as early-game healing utility and combos able to be performed by her and Silque are strong enough to ignore the tedious process of training her up.
As a final note, Faye can be recruited by Celica's party at the end of Act 2 if she is left behind in Act 1. For the most part, this is nothing but a novelty - Faye suffers from a severe level disadvantage and will struggle to catch up throughout Act 3, the only support she has grants a pitiful +3 Dodge to Celica, and she has no unique storyline content as a member of the Pilgrimage. Even if Rescue and Anew can offer some unique utility, Alm has a much easier time getting her to that point and Faye works much better as a pair with Silque.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are two different variations of Faye available to Heroes, both of which are tied to her storyline appearance in Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. The normal variation of Faye is one of the characters added to the game in the World of Shadows update, and became available for summoning by players on April 14, 2017. A Valentine's variation of Faye was made available between February 7, 2020 and March 6, 2020 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Lovely Gifts update.
Faye is the first character added to Heroes not specifically designed for the game to appear in Heroes before the game they were designed for; this also makes Faye the second character designed for a main Fire Emblem series game to appear in a game outside the main series prior to the game they were initially designed for (the first being Roy).

Personality and character
Faye has a fixation on Alm and focuses most if not all her time thinking about or trying to do something with him,[2][3][4][5] to the point where her family has expressed some concern over the matter.[4] Faye joins the Deliverance for one reason; to be near Alm.[6][7][8] Unfortunately for her, Alm does not return her feelings, being confused and somewhat concerned by her obsession with him.[9][10] After the war's conclusion Faye resumes her quiet life in Ram and marries. She eventually develops habits that worry her family, such as vanishing unexpectedly for days at a time.[11] These odd habits are presumably related to lingering feelings for Alm.[11]
Faye is somewhat suspicious and jealous of Celica,[12] and is rather chipper about the fight between Alm and Celica at the start of Act 3, using the opportunity to tell Alm that she knows and understands him better than Celica.[13] Her negative attitude towards Celica has existed since childhood,[12] and is additionally reflected in her bond support which is one-sided; Celica receives bonuses from Faye, though Faye does not receive bonuses from Celica. However, while she is somewhat jealous of Celica she does not seem to actually harbor outright negative feelings towards her, and is even willing to join and fight alongside her if Alm leaves her in Ram Village.[14]
Silque attempts to make friends with Faye, as they are two of the few girls in Alm's group,[15] but Faye brushes her off, desiring only to talk about Alm.[5] Silque later offers to talk about Alm, but she still refuses, citing the lack of Alm's immediate presence.[16] For a time, Silque gives up on trying to interact with Faye. Faye eventually relents after realizing how lonely she is in the group and tells Silque that she hadn't realized it until Silque had stopped talking to her.[17]

Trivia
- Faye, along with Alm, Lukas, and Clair, was playable in Fire Emblem Heroes before the official release of Echoes: Shadows of Valentia in any region. In her case, this also marked the first time any character made their playable debut in Heroes before the official release of their game of origin (as Alm, Lukas, and Clair were already playable in Gaiden).
- Despite being unable to access the Archer class in Shadows of Valentia, Faye is depicted wielding bows in Heroes. The developers have stated that Faye uses a bow in Heroes only due to the Heroes developers wanting to introduce another colorless type unit for the next summoning event.[18]
- Faye is the only character to receive a statistical penalty from a support relationship; in this case, her avoid is penalized by her support with Alm.

- ↑ 12.0 12.1 "He's with Celica? ...Again?[...]Stop that, would you? So does this mean... I mean... Is Alm gonna marry her someday?" — Faye to the other villagers after Alm left to play with Celica in the Prologue, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
- ↑ "I don't mean to pry, Alm, but I heard you and Celica had a fight. Well, don't feel bad—you've been apart a long time, after all. You can't expect Celica to understand what's going through your head. Only someone who's been with you the whole time could ever truly understand. Someone who knows you so well she thinks exactly as you do. Someone who would do whatever you'd ask...if only you would. Those are the sort of friends you need to keep close." — Faye, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
- ↑ "...Huh? Oh, Celica! You're back! Gosh, how long has it been? I've missed you so much! Alm left Ram. Did you know that? Just up and LEFT! I'm so desperately lonely... Anyway, I thought about going after him just to teach him a lesson, but I didn't. I'd probably get killed by some foul beast out there on my own, you know? Hey, wait... Are you on a journey or a quest or whatever? Then maybe I could go with you!" — Faye to Celica in Ram, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
- ↑ "Yes, well, I was hoping we could get to know each other better. There are so few of us women fighting alongside Sir Alm, after all." — Silque to Faye in a support conversation, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
- ↑ "Silque: I would like to make a proposal. If you don't like gossip, why don't we talk about Sir Alm? He's something we can bond over, don't you think?
Faye: Talking about Alm isn't fun unless Alm himself is there. Look, it's okay. Not everyone has to be friends, right?" — Faye and Silque in a support conversation, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia - ↑ "Weeeell... After you stopped approaching me, I realized I kinda...miss your company. I guess I needed a friend after all. Sorry I was so rude." — Faye to Silque, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
