Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Immediately send Clive with the Ridersbane into one of the central forests. While he will die if all six attacks connect, this is extremely unlikely given that he's facing hit rates in the high 40s. Once Berkut and co. are pulled in, send in your other troops to clean house. Note that Berkut will prioritize attacking Alm if he is in range, even if he's capable of killing someone else.

After this map, you get access to the Forest Village and the first blacksmith and peddler on Alm's route. Sell all of your excess provisions, including the Exotic Spice, and forge your Ridersbane to max level. This gives you 27 might against enemy cavalry, which will be a great boon against the cavalry that dominate Alm's route. There's nothing that Celica immediately requires from Alm, but if you want to compete the time-limited sidequest to sell five Steel Lances you'd better send one over now.

Sadly, you tend to get jumped by enemy cavalry on the way out of the village. If your Clerics are being picked off by enemy Bow Knights, trade a shield over.
