Shez (Japanese: シェズ Shez) is the avatar unit and protagonist of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. They are a mercenary seeking revenge on Byleth.

Biography

Shez was born in a remote mountain village in Ordelia territory in Leicester. Their biological parents died when Shez was young and they were adopted by a woman who gave them an education on par with that of a noble. Eventually, Shez's adopted mother died as well, and they were promptly thrown out of their village. Shez became a mercenary fighting alongside Captain Berling.

One day, the Berling Mercenaries are wiped out by Byleth. Shez is rescued from death and granted great power by a mysterious being named Arval, and swears revenge. Six months later, they chance upon the nobles Edelgard von Hresvelg, Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd, and Claude von Riegan being pursued by bandits and help the group. Afterwards, Shez is taken to the Officer's Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery and enrolls there as a student with the house of their choice—the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, or Golden Deer. Afterwards, they rescue Monica von Ochs from the surviving bandits and an unidentified faction. Monica names the librarian Tomas as her abductor, and Tomas displays similar powers to the ones granted to Shez by Arval before fleeing arrest. Afterwards, Edelgard launches a coup to overthrow her corrupt uncle Lord Arundel, who is in league with Tomas, Dimitri sets out to suppress an insurrection by his uncle and regent Rufus, and Claude defends Fódlan's Locket from Almyran invaders led by Prince Shahid. Shez accompanies whichever house they chose, and afterwards remains in their chosen lord's service for the next two years.

Fire Emblem Heroes

There are three different variations of Shez available to Heroes, one male and two female, both based on their storyline appearance in Warriors: Three Hopes. The normal variation of male Shez became available for summoning by players on September 16, 2022 as part of the summoning event surrounding the One Last Chance update; the normal variation of female Shez was intially distributed via quests held between September 16, 2022 and October 6, 2022, and was directly added to the 3★ and 4★ summoning pools beginning with the Special Hero summoning event starting on October 6. A legendary variation of female Shez, based on her appearance as an Asura, was first made available to summon starting on December 23, 2022, as the game's forty-first Legendary Hero.
