“ | Is the lady intrigued? Of course you are—it's only natural. I am myth and legend! I am he who strides large across history's greatest stage! The man who puts the "arch" in "archer"! | ” | — Virion, to Sully |

Virion (Japanese: ヴィオール Viaur) is a character in Fire Emblem Awakening. His starting class is an archer.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Virion debuts in Chapter 1, immediately after Sully, and introduces himself as "the man who put the 'arch' in 'archer.'" He then aids Chrom and his allies in their skirmish against the Risen.
After his initial recruitment, Virion once more holds relevance to the story in Chapter 12. Two years after the end of the war with Gangrel, Virion goes to Regna Ferox to warn Chrom of an oncoming threat: Walhart the Conqueror. Alongside his vassal Cherche, Virion reveals his true identity as the Duke of Rosanne, a duchy in Valm that had been overtaken by Walhart and his cavalry. Having fled from his homeland, he asks for Chrom's aid in defeating Walhart.
After the defeat of Grima, the epilogue states that Virion returns to the war torn Rosanne, only to be ostracized and ridiculed for his perceived cowardice in their time of need. Nevertheless, Virion devotes the rest of his life to serving his people and, if he is married, eventually earns back their favor.

Virion appears in Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE as Eleonora Yumizuru's Mirage partner.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
Viron is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch, and is also the second of twelve characters that are part of the game's Hero Battle rotation. He was first made available via Hero Battle at 7:00 AM UTC on February 3, 2017 through 6:59 AM UTC on Feburary 4, 2017, and his Hero Battle has been available during the same time period every twelve days thereafter. Only one variation of Virion is currently available in Heroes, based on his Awakening incarnation. His Mirage form as depicted in Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE makes an appearance with Eleonora.
Virion is one of the player's initial units in Fire Emblem Heroes; prior to version 2.5, he joined at the beginning of the game's second preface map. When Anna and Kiran were attacked by Emblian soldiers, Kiran took the Breidablik in hand and summoned Virion, who fought alongside Anna to ward off the Emblians. Once the Preface ended, this two-star Virion could be used like any other non-unique Hero; the player could choose to raise him, merge him with another version of Virion, or send him home to earn Hero Feathers. Version 2.5 saw this role assumed by a four-star Takumi instead, but players first starting from that version onward still get Virion as one of four free units apart from the main characters given to new players of the game; 2.5-onward new players get their free Virion, now as a four-star unit, after returning to the castle after completing the Preface.

Personality and character
When Virion first appears in the story, he quickly asserts himself as a boastful romantic, describing himself with great praise while immediately proposing to Sully. Virion's boasts are entirely founded, however, when it comes to his skills in archery. During his supports with Panne, Virion matched her in battle "trophy for trophy." In his supports with Sully, he clarifies that while he doesn't partake in unnecessary duels, he has no issue with fighting for the sake of innocent lives. However, while he is masterful at archery, Virion is stated to be prone to ambush, which is likely a reference to the limited range of archers in Awakening.
The circumstances surrounding Virion's fleeing from Rosanne are elaborated on in his supports with Panne. When speaking with Chrom about the situation in Valm after Gangrel's defeat, it is implied that he fled due to cowardice, and Panne mentions that his cravenness is well known. However, this could not be further from the truth.
Virion cares deeply about the lives of innocents, and his subjects in particular. He explained to Panne that he knew that Walhart would easily decimate his countrymen had they fought him. At the same time, Virion was well loved by the citizens of Rosanne, so when word got out that he was going to offer himself to Walhart to spare their lives, they defied him and swore to protect him.
Knowing that countless lives would be lost had they fought for him, Virion fled in order to decrease morale. By making himself seem cowardly, he'd lose the respect of his subjects and give them less of a reason to fight a losing battle against the Valmese army. In the meantime, he'd find an army (in this case, Chrom and his Shepherds) to fight back the Valmese and save his homeland. The epilogue showcases Virion's dedication to his people, as he spends the rest of his life serving them even after they had ostracized him upon his return.
In his supports with Maribelle, he shows just how much his integrity means to him. When she accuses him of being dishonest, he doesn't eat for days and spends many hours thinking over his actions with immense grief, as if he'd besmirched his own nobility.
Virion, among other things, is also incredibly cunning. In his supports with Robin, he shows that he has an eye for tactics and strategy by repeatedly beating Robin at a strategy board game. However, he remarks that his own tactics would never work on an actual battlefield, as they rely greatly on sacrificing pawns, while Robin refused to sacrifice a single one, even in a fictional setting. In his supports with Frederick, there comes a point where a debt collector donates a large sum of money to the Shepherds in order to secure Virion's survival, with Frederick remarking about how baffling it is that his debt was so exorbitant that it tied the debt collector's welfare to Virion's.
In addition, Virion is a lover of the arts. He thinks of himself as a poet, while describing pleasant things as being poetry. Furthermore, his supports with Olivia reveal he's a talented dancer, while his supports with Tharja show that he is also a skilled chef.

Endings
Virion, Archest Archer (single ending)
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. He never battled these claims, but history shows he gave the rest of his life to the people.
Virion, Archest Archer & Robin, High Deliverer
Many wrote of Robin's legendary exploits, but accounts of her origins and character varied. Scholars, poets, and bards agreed on one thing alone—she loved her husband, Virion, above all else.
Virion, Archest Archer & Lissa, Sprightly Cleric
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But none of it fazed his wife, Lissa, who won the populace over with good old-fashioned charm.
Virion, Archest Archer & Sully, Crimson Knight
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But in time he was forgiven, largely thanks to the bold (and slightly terrifying) nature of his wife, Sully.
Virion, Archest Archer & Miriel, Rapier Intellect
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But Miriel's discoveries improved their quality of life, and they soon came to love him once more.
Virion, Archest Archer & Maribelle, Dire Damsel
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But his wife, Maribelle, treated the people fairly and equally, and in time, they learned to forgive him.
Virion, Archest Archer & Panne, Proud Taguel
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But his wife Panne's dedication did much to bring him back into good standing among his people.
Virion, Archest Archer & Cordelia, Knight Paragon
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But Cordelia defended her husband vehemently and ultimately won him a second chance with his people.
Virion, Archest Archer & Nowi, Eternal Youth
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. Thankfully, his wife Nowi's flair for drama was entertaining enough to keep the mob's pitchforks at bay.
Virion, Archest Archer & Tharja, Grim Stalker
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But a few well-placed hexes from his wife, Tharja, eventually brought the populace to their senses.
Virion, Archest Archer & Olivia, Shrinking Violet
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. Over time, however, Olivia's dancing managed to bring him back into the populace's favor.
Virion, Archest Archer & Cherche, Wyvern Friend
Virion returned home to Rosanne, where he was labeled a traitor and a coward, or else ignored entirely. But Cherche's smarts and kindness eventually brought her husband back into good standing.
