Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.
|
Horace joins the army in Chapter 12x of Shadow Dragon as a pre-promoted General. His base stats are decent even in higher difficulties; his defense of 17 allows him to survive several physical attacks, his speed of 8 is just enough to not get doubled by certain enemies, and his strength of 15 lets him defeat most enemies with effective weapons. Horace's B rank in lances allows him to use effective lances with no investment, like the Ridersbane and the Dragonpike. He also has a D rank in bows, which can sometimes be useful if the player needs damage from 2-range.
As Horace comes pre-promoted, he does not compete for a Master Seal; however, he does compete with units who can use effective lances when he joins, many of whom will also have better stats. Another factor working against Horace is that Chapter 12x, the chapter when he joins, is only unlocked if the player has 15 or fewer units alive at the end of Chapter 12. For that reason, the player may need to sacrifice units if they wish to recruit him. He also suffers from a lack of good reclassing options, as every other class cannot utilize his good lance rank, a large part of his utility; the alternative is leaving Horace as a General, which can be highly limiting due to its low movement.
