Me? Oh, my name's Keaton. And you CAN'T HAVE MY FUR, got it? Some other humans came and tried to get my fur. But I collected their bones instead. Ha! The joke's on them.
— Keaton, introducing himself.

Keaton (Japanese: フランネル Flannel) is a character in Fire Emblem Fates. The leader of the Wolfskin of Nohr's Mount Garou, Keaton is playable in two of Fates's campaigns, Conquest and Revelation.

Fire Emblem Fates

Keaton only appears as a boss during Chapter 15. He was originally going to allow Corrin's army to pass his territory, but Iago had planted a hidden bomb pior to Corrin's arrivel, which causes one of his Wolfskin to die. Keaton, believing it was Corrin's doing, decides to attack them with the rest of his kin. Corrin's army are forces to fight the Wolfkin and Keaton and the Wolfskin are slain in the process.

Keaton travels from his home in the mountains to gather bugs for his collection, but loses his way and ends up in Cyrkensia. He notices the battle between Corrin's army and Kumagera's hitmen, he then takes a look at Corrin, thinking they can help him find his way back home. Corrin asks Keaton to join their group and he accepts and later helps settle an age-old conflict between Hoshido and Nohr.

Keaton makes his way to Cyrkensia and befriends the kitsune Kaden. The two witness the town apparently destroying itself, and are quickly attacked by invisible soldiers. Dazed and battered, the two stumble upon Corrin's company, who quickly heal them. They explain their story and join the group in order to stop the incoming battle between Hoshidan and Nohrian forces.

Personality and character

Keaton loves to hunt for "treasure," believing gross things such as hairballs and faceless hair to be treasure. When happy, Keaton's tail wags, although he does not like to admit it. He is also known to be a very bad liar, with his evidence being his wagging tail, and red-flushed cheeks; however, he always manages to change the subject with an excuse in his conversations.

Keaton's backstory is slowly revealed across a few support conversations, and he hints parts of it in his supports with Niles and Jakob. In Niles' A support conversation with Keaton, Niles explains that he looked through Keaton's history, and had no luck in finding any records on the Wolfskin in general; although, Niles figured out that Keaton was forced to become the chief of his tribe, because his mother was skinned. Niles asks Keaton who was responsible for his mother's death, and Keaton dismisses the subject by telling Niles that he already killed the person who did it to her.

In Jacob's A support conversation with Keaton, Jacob was asked to clean Keaton's room by Corrin, and he finds a collar with the name, "Flannel" written on it. Jacob becomes curious to why Keaton has this collar, and he wonders who this "Flannel" person was as he pushes Keaton to tell him. Defensively, Keaton explains that he himself, was named Flannel by his owner when he was a pup, and that a nobleman took care of him when he was younger. Jacob becomes confused, and Keaton tells him that the nobleman (who turned out to be Jacob's father), skinned Keaton's mother, and told him to go into the wild to be free. Keaton tells Jacob that he didn't want to leave the man who took care of him, but explains that his wolf instincts must have taken over, and Keaton killed the man by Mount Garou, taking all of the regret and fury with him.
