Article structure

Infobox

For characters only appearing in one game do not use the tabbed infobox.

For characters appearing in multiple games set the tabs in the infobox in chronological order. Have the default tab be the characters most "important" appearance; for instance, Eliwood defaults to his The Blazing Blade appearance as he is one of that game's protagonists and he is a minor NPC in The Binding Blade. If all appearances are roughly equal in "importance" use the most recent. (Generally speaking, appearances like in Awakening's DLC content will never be default unless that is the character's only available artwork).

If the character appears in numerous games, instead of using subtitles for the tab names, use abbreviations, like "SDatBoL" for Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, MotE for Mystery of the Emblem, FEA for Awakening, FEF for Fates, FEH for Heroes and so on. Generally, include "FE" for games that only have one-word subtitles.

Template usage

Use Template:Character Infobox. Here is how it should be used:

Name
The name of the character. Please always include the name, while it is automatically filled in based on the page title if it is absent it makes for less work during page moves if the name field is filled manually.
Image
Artwork of the character, or their in-game portrait if no artwork exists.
Caption
A description of the image stating the characters name and which game it is from.
For artwork, this is "Artwork of (character) from {{title|game}}.
For in-game portrait, this is "(Character)'s portrait in {{title|game}}.
Help text
The in-game text describing the character. This feature is present in The Binding Blade, Fire Emblem, and The Sacred Stones.
Gender
The gender of the character.
Race
The race of the character, as the species is known in that game.
Age
Exact age if available, otherwise an approximate age from a source or in-game context.
Family
Any known family members, and their relation to the character.
Nationality
The character's nationality. See here for a list of demonyms to use. If not known, write "Unknown."
Titles
Political or military ranks held by the character, or nicknames given in-game. Not the name listed in the game's epilogue.
Starting class
The class the character starts at in the game.
Voice
Any voice actors/seiyuu who have portrayed this character in the OVA, BS Archanea War Chronicles, Super Smash Bros, Awakening or other voiced work. Give priority to Japanese actors, then American, and then others; also, games go first in the list.
Appearances
A list of games the character has appeared in. The game(s) should be listed as *{{title|game}}

Intro

The intro is a general, usually brief, paragraph describing general information about the character and their relevance to the plot, without any major spoilers. Things the intro should have, in general order it should be in:

Quote
A quote, usually that they say, describing the character without spoilers. Remember that certain characters, such as Alva of Thracia 776, do not have a single line in the game other than their death quote, so do not worry if you cannot find a good quote.
Name
The characters english name, or romanization, with their Japanese name with proper romanization. Additionally, some characters are known as different things in Japan, such as Marisa is Marica.
Game appearances
The games the character appears in or is referenced in.
Chapters
The chapter the character first appears in, is first playable in, or is a boss in.
Starting class
The class the character starts as.
Relationships
The relationships between them and other characters, such as family, enemies, friends, lovers, etc.
Home town
The town or country where the character is originally from, or is settled in at the start of the game.

Example

The breeze, the trees, the sky, the brooks... They are all speaking to us.
— Sue to Roy in a support conversation.

Sue (Japanese: スー Sue) is a character in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. She first appears in Chapter 6.

A Sacaean nomadic girl, Sue is a member of the Kutolah tribe and granddaughter of their leader, Dayan, also known as the Silver Wolf. She is also the daughter of Rath, a playable character from Fire Emblem. While her mother's name is unknown, there is the possibility of Lyn being the other parent, as suggested by her shared ending with Rath.

General information

The next heading will be the name of the game they appear in. If there are multiple, cover all of them in order of the games' release dates. All games will have the following subsections:

Role

In this section, describe the role of the character in the plot.

Starting stats and growth rates

For the starting stats, use the template linked to depending on the game.

Game Template
Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi CharStats FE3
Gaiden CharStats FE2
Mystery of the Emblem CharStats FE3
Genealogy of the Holy War CharStats FE4
Thracia 776 CharStats FE5
The Binding Blade CharStats GBA
Fire Emblem CharStats GBA
The Sacred Stones CharStats GBA
Path of Radiance CharStats GCN
Radiant Dawn CharStats Wii
Shadow Dragon CharStats DS
New Mystery of the Emblem CharStats DS
BS Fire Emblem CharStats FE3

Promotion gains

Use Template:PromotionGains.

Repeat these sections under different game headings if there are any more. A good example would be Hector.

Analysis

Discuss the character's function and usefulness in gameplay here.

Personality and character

This section is two to three paragraphs and usually takes the longest. In the first paragraph, describe the character's personality. Not just in a few sentences, but try to describe every aspect of their personality that is mentioned. Use the support conversations and other parts of the games' scripts for this information.

In the second to third paragraphs, describe how they are related to other characters. Then, describe any stories about their history, if there are any. If there is a lot of information, this section might take three paragraphs in total.

Also, references are required. At least five should be used if they are a playable character, with less being acceptable for NPCs.

Supports

For supports, use the template from the respective game, using the table below to choose the appropriate template. If the character only appears in Fire Emblem Gaiden, this section should be skipped.

Special case: If the character appears only in Genealogy of the Holy War, replace ==Supports== with ==Love growths==.

In case of appearing in Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, use both sections (==Love growths== and ==Supports==) You can see this in Fin's page.

Support conversations

For support conversations, which feature in The Binding Blade, Fire Emblem, The Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, and Radiant Dawn, make a subpage named "Character's name/Supports".

EXAMPLE:

Main article: Amelia/Supports

This page should have sections for each person whom the character can support with. In each of those sections, start with one of the following templates:

Game Template
The Binding Blade SupportDataGBA
Fire Emblem SupportDataGBA
The Sacred Stones SupportDataGBA
Path of Radiance SupportDataGCN

Then, order the three conversations per level. First the C level, second the B, and lastly, the A conversation.

In the case of Archanea characters, add a new section to the character's page, ==Base conversations==. The reason for this division is that support conversations are not truly related to supports in New Mystery of the Emblem. Then, make a link to the subpage, which, in this case, is {{main|(Character's name)/Conversations}} and a special template*.

Don't forget to categorize this subpage! Choose the corresponding category/categories:

Category:Supports in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Category:Supports in Fire Emblem (GBA)
Category:Supports in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Category:Supports in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Category:Supports in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Category:Support conversations in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem

Endings

List the character's endings, both regular and paired endings. First goes the regular, then the paired one(s). In the case of The Binding Blade, do not forget to list both short (if the character was not chosen for the final chapter) and long (in case they were chosen) endings.

If they appear in two or more games, write the endings under subsections. This is valid for Tellius characters, too; below ==Endings==, write ===''Radiant Dawn''===, as there are no endings in Path of Radiance, and then put the character's ending.

Quotes

If the quotes section becomes excessively long, move it to its own sub-page.

Death quote

This section is self-explanatory. Use Template:Quote for the sentence(s). First goes the normal death quote, and in case the character has a special one, explain where they say it.

EXAMPLE:

No... It's not... I'm sorry, <player>... Everyone...forgive me...
— Lyn in her story.
Oh... But I have so... so much... Oh, <player>...
— Lyn in Eliwood/Hector's story.

Battle quotes

This is a feature not present in all games. Here go all lines said by characters in certain battles, such as when fighting against related characters or in final chapters. Use Template:Quote for this.

Other appearances

List here all other appearances of the characters outside their games. These could be manga and novel adaptations, anime, Super Smash Bros. series or even a truly random cameo. It is recommended to create different subsections for each appearance.

Trivia

Self-explanatory.

Etymology and other languages

The meaning of the name. A reference should be used, preferably from ThinkBabyNames.com or Behind The Name. After the reference, the relationship to the character's role or personality should be stated. If there are mythological ties to it, they should be listed after the meaning.

For this section, use Template:Names.
