World of Mystery

Scurry, scurry, little Heroes... Steal for me. Spread destruction. Kill all those who stand in your way. This kingdom must fall. Once it's gone, no one will oppose me. Every Hero, in every world—they'll all be mine. Every last one.
— Veronica

World of Zenith (Japanese: 至天の世界 World of Reaching the Heavens) is the prologue chapter of Fire Emblem Heroes. This chapter introduces the player to the main characters of the story, including Alfonse, Sharena, Veronica, and the Mysterious Man, and to the conflict between Askr and the Emblian Empire.

The maps in this chapter may be replayed multiple times, but unlike the later Story Maps, they do not offer additional difficulty levels outside of Normal mode.

Plot

Main article: World of Zenith/Script

Anna introduces Kiran to Alfonse, prince of the Askran Kingdom. Alfonse explains that the Order of Heroes is an organization dedicated to fighting the Emblian Empire, whose armies invade the various worlds in which the Heroes live, forcing them under their control. Most recently, the Emblians have taken control of the World of Mystery, so Alfonse asks Kiran to help the Order drive out the Emblians. He also mentions seeing an unfamiliar masked man among the Emblian soldiers, but the army has little time to think on the masked man's identity before a group of Emblian soldiers approach.

After the battle is won, the army is approached by the masked man, but he quickly leaves again without answering Alfonse's questions as to his allegiance. Anna and Alfonse explain to Kiran that the "gateways" mentioned by the masked man are the entry points into the various Heroes' worlds. The royals of Askr have the power to open these gateways, and the royals of Embla have the power to close them. For centuries, the two countries worked peacefully together to open and close the gateways, but in recent years, the Emblians have instead been abusing their power to leave the gateways open, and invade the Heroes' worlds. Since the Askrans do not have the power to simply close the gateways, they instead formed the Order of Heroes to oppose Embla in combat. With the explanation finished, the army leaves to search for Alfonse's sister Sharena, who was sent to the World of Mystery on a scouting mission.

In the World of Mystery, Sharena cheerily introduces herself to Kiran, before giving her report: the Emblians have brought Princess Minerva of Macedon under their control, and she has been ordered to attack Askr. Alfonse tries to negotiate with Minerva, but to no avail – the only way to break the contract Minerva is under is to prove the strength of the Order of Heroes in battle.

The Order successfully defeats Minerva, Maria, and the two eldest Whitewings, thus breaking the contract. Minerva vows that her army will not attack Askr, and departs. Before the Order has time to rest, however, Anna receives an urgent report – Emblian soldiers are launching an attack on Askr. The confrontation with Minerva was in fact a ruse planned by Veronica to draw the Order away from Askr, thus leaving it open to attack. The army hastily returns to Askr to defend their kingdom.

By the time the Order arrives in Askr, Veronica is already there, ordering her Heroes to pillage the kingdom. She notices Kiran holding the Breidablik, and, determining that they must be the legendary summoner, orders Xander to kill them first. The Order steps in to defend Kiran, and battle ensues. The Order successfully defeats Xander and his soldiers, and Veronica retreats to Embla. Alfonse surmises that she will simply plan to attack again another day, however.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

You should bring a red unit, a blue unit, a green unit such as Anna, and a ranged attacker such as Virion or Raigh. Your green unit should take on the Lance Fighter, your blue unit the Sword Fighter, and your red unit the Axe Fighter. They should be able to deal with their enemies easily enough, but use your ranged fighter to assist if necessary.

The map contains three flying enemies, so at least one archer, who can deal bonus damage to fliers, is vital. Any remaining slots should cover the three sides of the weapon triangle as best as possible. Break through the walls near the starting area, and lure the enemies out to meet you, from where you should be able to shoot them down with your archer(s). Don't forget to deal with Maria as soon as possible, or she'll be able to heal any damage you do.

Strategy

The enemy force has two sword users, so one or two blue units will be most effective – particularly a female Corrin, if available, whose magic-based blue breath, coupled with her own high Defense, will make short work of both Xander and the Sword Fighter, owing to their low Resistances. Have someone lure the Bow Fighter out on the first turn, and the rest should follow easily.
