I...I won't betray anyone. I won't fight against the people of Nohr after you cared for me all these years. You and Camilla, Leo and Elise...We might not be related by blood, but you are family to me. You've been with me for as long as I can remember.
— Corrin, to Xander
...No. I refuse to fight against my Hoshidan siblings, either. Ryoma...we might not have spent much time together, but you are my family too. You, Hinoka, Takumi, Sakura...I don't want to fight with you on this or any other battlefield.
— Corrin, to Ryoma

Into the Ground (Japanese: 狭間へ沈みゆく Sinking in Between) is the sixth chapter of the Revelation campaign in Fire Emblem Fates. In this chapter, Corrin has made their fateful decision to not take sides in the giant family squabble, and thus ends up having to face off against forces from both Hoshido and Nohr who did not take this decision lightly.

Main article: Into the Ground/Script

Continuing from Corrin's decision having not to take sides in the conflict between Hoshido and Nohr, they first tells Xander and then Ryoma that they will not betray any of their family—including Camilla, Leo, Elise, Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura; after stating their intentions, they asks both Xander and Ryoma to set their swords aside and they asks for a peaceful solution. As Corrin is about to speak further, Xander and Ryoma brushes them aside and begin squabbling again, each vowing to be the one to drum some sense into Corrin; as Corrin deduces that Xander and Ryoma won't listen to them, then states that they have to step in if they have any hopes to stop them.

As Corrin states that they needs to get Ryoma's and Xander's attention in order to stop their fighting, Azura suggests that they attack the groups closest to them—if they defeat the forward commanders, Ryoma and Xander can't possibly ignore them. Felicia/Jakob runs onto the scene, states that they made it to the scene in time, and tells Corrin they're glad that they are safe, to which Corrin asks Felicia/Jakob what they are doing in the area. Felicia/Jakob states that they were panicking after being separated from Corrin, spending all of their time trying to figure out where they went, and states that they don't know what's going on, but they can count on them for help; Corrin states that they are grateful for Felicia's/Jakob's presence, after which Felicia/Jakob asks which army they're fighting having apparently witnessed no apparent allies—after which Corrin states that they're fighting both the Hoshidan and Nohrian armies as they chosen not to side with either country. Felicia/Jakob, shocked to find Corrin has made enemies of both Hoshido and Nohr, asks Corrin what they have gotten himself into, then vows to help him to the best of their ability.

Once the battle ends, a tired Corrin notes that they've gotten the Hoshidans and Nohrians to stop fighting for the moment, after which both Xander and Ryoma accuse Corrin of betraying them; Corrin attempts to insist that they haven't betrayed nobody, but to no avail as both Xander and Ryoma deem Corrin a traitor to their respective country. Azura deduces that nothing Corrin says can convince either Xander or Ryoma, thus they need to retreat for the time being as they can't afford to be caught; Corrin promises Xander and Ryoma to get them to someday understand their intentions.

Shortly thereafter, Azura states that the three of them have managed to escape but that they still have the Hoshidans and Nohrians on their trail, yet they can't leave things as they are at the moment as they'd be branded traitors by both kingdoms; Azura states that Corrin is going to have to pick a side, to which Corrin states that there's a third option—and they can choose not to support either side, as they can't side with their family on either side of the conflict even at the risk of losing everything. Azura states that Corrin would be risking a lot to accomplish something major, and reveals that her own mother died protecting Nohr yet didn't appear to regret her choice as she died protecting the ones she loved; Azura then vows to follow the path Corrin has chosen, to which Corrin thanks Azura. The intro cutscene to the Revelation campaign, "Valla Intro", plays at this point, followed by the tutorial and formal introduction to the My Castle concept.

Nohrian and Hoshidan royals clash blades on the battlefield. Corrin is torn between both kingdoms but finally makes a fateful decision...

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Your starting lineup for the Revelation route consists of Corrin, your opposite gender servant, and Azura (who for no readily apparent reason has dumped her Brass Naginata for a Bronze Lance). Notably, you are very light on bulk, with only Dragonstone Corrin being able to serve as a reliable tank.

You are saddled with an unforgiving five turn time limit, and the Nohrians are across a river and in no hurry to attack, so you must immediately take the fight to them. With Azura's aid and using Corrin as a ferry, your servant should be able to pull the Fighter on turn 1. On turn 2, kill him and use the Dragon Vein to dry the river so the Hoshidans can get to you in time. If Felicia is your servant, she will almost certainly need to duck behind Corrin in order to survive. Luckily, even Azura is sturdy enough to take a hit from the Nohrian boss. On turn 3, you will be able to finish the Nohrian boss in time to regain your bearings and face the Hoshidans. You can kill the Hoshidan boss on turn 4 or delay a turn to get an extra kill - your call.
