|You're right. My child deserves better. Let's get out of here.
— Holland, to Severa
Holland was unwillingly working for Nelson and his band of ruffians due him needing Nelson's coin in order to support his pregnant wife. During his time working for Nelson, he befriended Severa, who herself was also unwillingly working for Nelson. During a skirmish between Nelson's band and the Shepherds, Severa managed to convince Holland to abandon Nelson and his group by telling him that his unborn child deserved better out of a father.
Holland is an enemy in Paralogue 10 of Fire Emblem Awakening. Although given enemy status by the game, Holland's role is more similar to that of a neutral character; in order to recruit Severa, she must be safely escorted to Holland in order to let the two of them talk. If this happens, Holland will leave the map, and Severa will join the Shepherds. Should Holland be killed while Severa is still a green NPC, Severa will then become an unrecruitable enemy unit herself; however, this is impossible to unintentionally happen and must be deliberately done, as he does not attack any player units even if they are in his range.
