Pale Flower of Darkness (Japanese: 闇の白い花 White Flower of Darkness) is the twenty-fifth chapter of Eliwood's tale and twenty-seventh of Hector's tale in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. To play Jerme's version of the chapter, the combined experience earned by Dorcas, Bartre, Guy, and Raven in Eliwood's or Hector's tale must be higher than that earned by Serra, Erk, Lucius, and Priscilla. Otherwise, Pale Flower of Darkness (Kenneth) will be played instead.

If Vaida was not defeated in the previous chapter, she is chastised by Sonia for failing to kill Eliwood; she begs for a second chance, but is rebuffed. Eliwood and company arrive at the Black Fang's hideout, as Lyn has tracked them there; they then sneak into the fortress; Eliwood leaves Ninian and Nils in the care of Marcus before they leave.
The lords happen across Sonia, and eavesdrop on her giving Nino the mission she received from King Desmond. Brendan protests giving such a dangerous mission to Nino; Sonia states that, as Lloyd and Linus have not been heard from since they went to kill Eliwood, Nino is the only option. Brendan relents and leaves as Sonia calls Jaffar; she tells him that Nino will accompany him to assassinate Prince Zephiel. Jaffar protests, but Sonia refuses to listen and insists the mission will succeed as long as Jaffar is there. Sonia leaves Jerme to guard the fortress as she, Jaffar, and Nino leave for the royal manse. The lords regroup with Marcus and begin to follow the assassins; however, Ferme notices them, and interrupts their conversation. Jerme announces his intent to enjoy killing of the lords' party; they attempt to flee him, but Ninian senses they are trapped by a barrier. Jerme warps inside a nearby building, and Nils tells the group they must defeat every foe to leave.
During the battle, either Karel or Harken may appear. If one of the lords talks to Karel, he informs them that he came to "hone [his] blade" against the Black Fang, as they hava gathered new; Karel notices that the lords will become powerful warriors, and he decides to join them to see them fulfill that potential. If Harken appears, Eliwood, Hector, Marcus, Lowen, Oswin, or Isadora may speak to him; Harken reveals that he intends to atone for his failure to protect Elbert or his comrades by killing as many of the Black Fang as he can. Harken is hesitant to join Eliwood's group, but is convinced to join when he is remind of his knightly duty, of what Elbert would want him to do, or of how many people his absence would hurt.
Once the black fang are routed, the lords discover that Jerme was carrying the Fire Emblem with him and recover it from his corpse. Though they have fulfilled Hellene's request, they know that they must hurry to prevent Zephiel's assassination.
Near Zephiel's abode, Sonia reviews the assassination with Nino one last time. Nino requests to hold her mother's hand; Sonia promises to Nino that, if she succeeds and kills the prince, she will hold her hand as often as she wishes. Nino is satisfied with Sonia's answer and runs ahead. Once Nino is out of earshot, Sonia orders Jaffar to kill Nino once Zephiel is dead; she explains that a scapegoat is needed to quell the chaos that will erupt once Zephiel has been assassinated. Jaffar protests, but Sonia reminds him that "Nergal does not give second chances", convincing Jaffar to silently obey her orders.
In Hector's tale, Hector asks Oswin about news on Uther's illness. Oswin informs him that there is no news; however, Oswin did receive word from Uther advising Hector to not trouble Eliwood. Hector is frustrated by his brother's apparent insistence of treating him like a child.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |

This is one of the few chapters in The Blazing Blade that feature weather. While it snows, your units will suffer major movement penalties unless they are indoors. As such, it is difficult to traverse the large map in a low number of turns, and all the more difficult if one wishes to recruit Karel, whose appearance requires four doors to be opened by the end of turn 9. Keep in mind that Nils will note the starting and stopping of the snow, and traveling indoors is inevitable given the chapter's mission to rout the enemy, so while summoning Karel may not be optimal, by no means is it impossible.
The chapter itself is an arduous one, requiring you to open multiple doors and defeat the enemies in each room. Each room, however, has enemy units that share similar classes, so knowing what to expect beforehand can help in choosing which units to deploy.
Do take caution against Jerme, however, as he is capable of moving. It is recommended to attack him from a distance, as he cannot inflict critical hits at 2 range due to the nature of the Light Brand.
Trivia
- Harken wields the only obtainable Brave Sword in the entire game.
- Karel wields the only obtainable Wo Dao in Eliwood's Tale, or one of two in Hector's Tale, the other belonging to his sister Karla.
- The Wo Dao can only be wielded by Myrmidons, Swordmasters, and Blade Lords, meaning that only four units in the entire game can wield one: Guy, Karel, Karla, and Lyn.
- Jerme wields one of two obtainable Light Brands in the entire game, the other found in chapter 22E/23H.
- The maps for both versions of thus chapter fit together near-seamlessly.
- The second version of Nino from Fire Emblem Heroes has the title of "Pale Flower", which is named after this chapter. In Japanese, her title is the full "Pale Flower of Darkness", but this could not fit in English.
