Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Yoder is a prepromoted bishop who joins Roy's team very late into the game. He brings with him a divine weapon from either Sacae or Ilia, depending on which route Roy did not visit, for his allies to use. He is already at level 20, meaning his stats cannot grow any further outside of stat boosters, which are readily available in the Secret Shop in his join chapter, albeit expensive. He has a capped 30 points in resistance, allowing him to tank magic attacks. His magic is high, allowing him to contribute magic chip damage and remain a potent healer with staves. On the downside, his defense is extremely low for his join time, making it very easy for him to get killed if left exposed during enemy phase, made worse with the fact that his join chapter is riddled with a high number of powerful Wyvern Riders/Wyvern Lords. His other stats are average at best. Without stat boosters, Yoder will remain physically frail as he won't be able to level up to increase his defense or speed.

He already has an S rank in staves, which allows him to use every staff in the game, most notably the only S-ranked staff in his inventory: the Staff of the Saint.

He has an A rank in light magic, so it is possible for him to be a last minute candidate for the Aureola tome; this however, requires using him for combat to raise his weapon level to an S rank, continually putting him at the risk of death. The allotted time for him to start building his weapon level is very short (up to 6 chapters). However, he can fight Chapter 22 Druids relatively safely for this purpose. Given the scarcity of Guiding Rings and the slow EXP gains of non-combatant units such as Clerics and Priests, Yoder is likely the only realistic choice for an Aureola user if not enough effort and training was put into Elen or Saul, though training Yoder's weapon level, again, is very risky when, as a bishop, he works best as a staffbot. Because of his lower magic he's considered an inferior staffbot compared to Niime, but even both can contribute well thanks to the usefulness of staves in The Binding Blade.
