“ | I may not know how to govern yet, but I'll learn. I will make Ostia a land where our children can live in happiness. | ” | — Lilina, to Ogier. |
---|
Lilina (Japanese: リリーナ Lilina) is the daughter of Hector and best friends with Roy. She made a brief appearance at the end of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade with Roy. Her starting class is a mage, and she has a custom battle sprite. She is first playable at the beginning of Chapter 8 in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, though she is trapped in a jail cell with no weapons. Once she is released, Roy can talk to her and he will give Lilina a Thunder.
Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
At the beginning of the game, Lilina is visiting the sick Eliwood when a group of bandits takes the castle. Roy, the son of Eliwood, show up and liberates the castle along with Lilina. Lilina then travels back home to Ostia. After the death of her father, Hector, Marquess of Ostia, Ostia rebels and Lilina is taken hostage. Roy then appears and defeats the rebellion and saves Lilina from execution. After the battle, Lilina shows Roy where Durandal, the Blazing Blade, is. She then travels with Roy and company for the remainder of his journey.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lilina is a bit of an oddball. Her phenomenal magic growth leaves a good impression on the player, but her low Defense, HP and Speed make her independence as a unit questionable. While her bases would be almost decent for chapter 1, she joins midway through chapter 8. If she is used at the same pace as the others, she won't be anywhere near good enough for the player to find a reason to field at all. This means she will need to be heavily babied in order to turn her into anything worthwhile.
Some people would consider that she's actually worth the immense trouble. Enemies in The Binding Blade tend to have poor Resistance, meaning that she would in theory deal tons of damage, and the accuracy of anima tomes is pretty alright too. She will almost never one-shot enemies despite this.
Another point of contention against Lilina is the existence of Lugh. Guiding Rings are pretty scarce in The Binding Blade (a grand total of 4 without using Secret Shops, two gotten pointlessly late). And Lugh is, sadly, better than Lilina at basically everything: better HP, way better speed, better availability. He's a better user of Forblaze and Aircalibur because he reliably doubles Wyvern lords and manaketes, unlike Lilina, and those weapons make up for the difference in magic. Its important to also remember that even if you did not train Lugh, having a mage on your team is not important. There is no hidden rule about having one unit of each class on your team.
What makes Lilina difficult to train is that her base stats are pathetic, and her speed growth is shaky. If she does get speed a lot, she will start doubling slower enemies. The problem is that on average, her speed is nowhere near enough and she will usually wind up getting doubled. She is extremely RNG dependent, and without some serious luck she will be completely useless. Lilina is easily among the worst units in the game, and for good reason.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
A ten-year-old Lilina appears in the extended epilogue of the Japanese and North American releases of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. Her father Hector introduces her to Roy and Eliwood, and she and Roy play together afterwards. As the extended epilogue was removed from the PAL release she does not appear in the game in regions that the PAL version was distributed.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Lilina is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the The Binding Blade character set. She is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Champions of Yore DLC series, the second and third installments of Smash Brethren, and the second and third installments of Rogues & Redeemers; additionally, she also appears as an ally in Smash Brethren 1.

Personality and character
Lilina is a very kindhearted individual, who will often put the consideration of others before her own interests. Although she is of great social stature, she is not afraid to speak candidly to those below her, as shown in her support conversations with Gwendolyn and Ogier. On many occasions she has shown concern for her best friend Roy.
Lilina, though she is the heir to run Ostia, is still unsure of herself. Cecilia acts as a mentor to Lilina, training her not only in magic but also giving her advice in how to be a leader.
