“ | God, I can't stand conceited men like him. I need a man the calibre of my dear brother. That's why I'll never marry. | ” | — Lachesis, on Elliot |
---|
Lachesis (Japanese: ラケシス Rackesis) was a princess of the Agustrian state of Nordion, and the younger sister of its king Eldigan. A friend of Sigurd of Chalphy like her brother, she allied with Sigurd when Nordion was besieged by Elliot of Heirhein and in the Agustrian civil war, despite this putting her at odds with Eldigan, who reluctantly continued to serve King Chagall. After Eldigan's execution, she accompanied Sigurd's army in his exile in Silesse.
Biography
This section has been marked as a stub. Please help improve the page by adding information.
While Eldigan was in Agusti parleying with his liege, King Chagall, Lachesis remained at Nordion under the protection of three of Eldigan's Cross Knights: Eva, Eve and Alva. With Eldigan gone, Elliot of Heirhein attempted to assault Nordion in retaliation for Lachesis spurning his advances, but was stopped by Lachesis with the support of Sigurd and his army, which came to assist from Evans. Afterwards when King Chagall orders Eldigan to assault castle Agusti after the Seize of Castle Madino, Lachesis pleads with Eldigan to stop fighting for Chagall, which leads him to return to Sylvale attempt to reason with Chagall one more time.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Lachesis is playable during the first generation. In Chapter 2, Lachesis starts as an ally unit guarding Nordion castle. She can be recruited when talked to by Sigurd. She is available up until the end of Chapter 5.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
As a unit
Lachesis starts quite underleveled, at level 2, and at base she lacks a mount, lacks Follow-Up, and has a low staff level, magic, HP and strength. Her speed and resistance bases are high, and she has a high strength growth and a good luck growth, but her other growths are subpar and her other base stats are mediocre. She starts as an inferior combat unit to those with Follow-Up or a mount, and an inferior support unit to staff users with a better staff level or a mount. However, she has one of the strongest promotions in the game, Master Knight, and can acquire several helpful items to allow her to reach it. The Miracle Sword she starts with enables her to clear the arena more easily by activating the effects of Miracle at low health, and only she and other female units can use it. Dew can give her the Thief Sword in an event in Chapter 2, which lets her take gold from enemies. If all her retainers survive Chapter 2, they will give her the Knight Ring—it is useless on Lachesis when she is promoted, but she can sell it for more gold, and Eldigan can give her the Lands Sword in an event in Chapter 3, which improves her survivability and gives her 2-range in combat or can be sold for gold. With the gold obtained through various means, Lachesis can purchase, among other useful items, the Paragon Ring, which increases her experience gain. The ability to use staves gives Lachesis a source of experience that does not put her at risk through combat—in particular, she can use the Return staff (which grants 35 experience with each use; 70 with the Paragon Ring) and can use it repeatedly if she is left at the home castle with another unit.
Lachesis can provide non-staff support through Charm, which increases by 10 each the hit rate and avoid of every ally within three spaces of her, which can combine with Sigurd's authority bonus. However, providing this bonus requires that Lachesis be near combat, and prior to promotion will require slowing mounted units down or giving Lachesis the very competitive Leg Ring.
After promotion, Lachesis gains a mount, Follow-Up, significant stat bonuses, and the weapon levels to use almost every weapon in the game. Through her high stats and weapon flexibility, Lachesis becomes one of the strongest combat units available. Additionally, Lachesis is the only mounted unit who can use A and B rank staves, most notably the Rescue, greatly enhancing the mobility of any unit she uses it on, potentially increasing the speed at which Sigurd can seize castles. However, Nanna can only inherit the A-level swords and C-level staves (potentially B-level, if Claud is her father) in Lachesis's inventory; weapons in Lachesis's inventory at the end of Chapter 5 that Nanna cannot inherit—which includes the A-level Rescue—must be inherited by other units or be obtained again in the second generation in shops or dropped by enemies.
As a mother
For choices of husbands, Beowolf and Finn are often considered Lachesis's best husbands. Beowolf gives Nanna and Diarmuid Follow-Up and Accost, and can pass A-level swords to Diarmuid if he has promoted. Finn also passes down Follow-Up, but passes Miracle instead of Accost; Finn can have a conversation with Nanna in Chapter 7 that gives her +5 speed if he is her father. However, Diarmuid cannot inherit Finn's lances, Finn must defeat an enemy that drops a sword—the only such cases Finn can access before leaving being the Lightning Sword dropped by Jacobi or the Silver Blade dropped by Chagall, both in Chapter 3—to pass them to Diarmuid, which also makes them unavailable for other units until they are inherited, and Finn will lose his whole inventory in Chapter 7 (left with an Iron Lance) if he marries, which can put the player at a disadvantage in Chapter 7 where he needs to help defend Leif and Nanna for a large portion of the chapter. Beowolf and Finn pass very similar growths to Diarmuid and Nanna, though Beowolf offers slightly better HP and strength growths (+10% for Diarmuid and +5% for Nanna compared to Finn); the stats they pass depend on the stats they gain, and as such can vary: based on their average stats at level 30, Beowolf passes slightly better strength and HP (1 or 2 points) than Finn—additionally, as Finn leaves the player's army in Chapter 3, Beowolf is likely to have higher stats. Beowolf also has more opportunity to fall in love with Lachesis; he and Finn have the same love point base and growth (50 points and 2 points per turn, respectively), but Finn is only available for two chapters with Lachesis (Chapters 2 and 3), while Beowolf is for four chapters (Chapters 2–5) and has an event with her in Chapter 2 that provides 100 love points (and boosts Lachesis's strength, skill, and defense). Generally then, Beowolf is preferable as a father as he gives Diarmuid easier and more convenient access to swords while not depriving Finn of his lances, and Nanna is generally fast enough where she doesn't need +5 speed and is mainly a staff user regardless.
Aside from those two, magical-oriented husbands, namely Azelle and Claud, can also be solid choices. Azelle gives decent magic growths to both of Lachesis's children, strengthening Nanna's healing role and lets her and Diarmuid use magic swords more effectively. Claud on the other hand allows Nanna to use more stronger staves, and gives her and Diarmuid decent resistance growths. However, between the two, Claud is the inferior choice due to having no skills to pass down, whereas Azelle at least passes down the desirable Follow-Up skill, and even then he typically has better options, since Nanna and Diarmuid can't use tomes. Both fathers also hurt both of their strength, so they can struggle to reliably one-round opponents. Lex can allow Lachesis's children to inherit the Paragon skill to help reach their promotion faster and give them physically tanky growths, though the lack of innate Follow-Up will hurt their combat prowess in the long run without the Follow-Up Ring, which only one unit can use at a time.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Lachesis, known in Awakening as Raquesis, is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the Genealogy of the Holy War first-generation character set. She is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Lost Bloodlines DLC series, and as a NPC in Lost Bloodlines 2.

Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are two different variations of Lachesis available to Heroes, both of which are tied to her storyline appearance in Genealogy of the Holy War. The normal variation of Lachesis is one of the characters added to the game in the Sibling Bonds update, and became available for summoning by players on February 27, 2017. A performance-themed variation of Lachesis was made available between the period of September 8, 2020 through October 8, 2020 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the To Stay Dreaming update.
Lachesis is one of six characters whose appearance in the initial Choose Your Legends poll were given a name that contradicted a previously-existing officially localized English name (in this case, the name "Raquesis" granted in Awakening), and one of four whose contradiction still stood when the poll ended; Lachesis carried that contradiction into Heroes proper.

Personality
Lachesis is prideful, strong-willed and will not hesitate to make her objections to others known. Fiercely independent, she particularly objects to those who attempt to make decisions on her behalf. She holds her brother Eldigan in the utmost regard and respect, worries greatly about his safety, and uses him as a benchmark to compare the caliber of other people, particularly potential suitors; as far as she is concerned, nobody is as good as Eldigan.
