“ | Now the commander's sons... Lloyd and Linus? Watching them work was like watching master artisans. The two of them may have done some of those risky stunts. | ” | — Legault, on Lloyd and Linus's talents. |
---|
Lloyd Reed (Japanese: ロイド・リーダス Lloyd Reedus) was a member of the Black Fang, the eldest son of its commander Brendan Reed, and one of the elite Four Fangs of the organization. Along with his brother and fellow Four Fang Linus, Lloyd was tasked with the elimination of the Lycian lords Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn for their continued interference against the plans of Nergal.
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
Tasked with the elimination of Eliwood, Hector and Lyn along with the other Four Fangs, Lloyd and Linus were the first to encounter their group, near the Lycia/Bern border. Depending on the cumulative levels of the player's Lords at the time, Lloyd either confronted them and was defeated with Linus departing to report to headquarters, or Lloyd himself left to file the report while Linus remained behind. If the former case, after his defeat he let the group go and resolved to find the answers to the Black Fang's descent into madness himself, but was killed by Limstella instead.
If the latter case, following Linus's death at Limstella's hands (which he believed to be the work of Eliwood), he led the last remnants of the Black Fang in defending the Shrine of Seals from Eliwood's army, but failed and was killed.
In either case, following his death Lloyd was transformed into a morph by Nergal and used against Eliwood's army again in their final confrontation.

Personality
Lloyd is the calmer and more level-headed of the two Reed brothers. Though wary of Sonia's influence on his father and the Fang as a whole, he was nonetheless resolved to remain behind with them so as to try to learn the truth of the matter for himself. Following Linus's death, he became depressed and fatalistic, wishing for nothing more than to join his brother in death.

---|
“ | Aye. That I am. [...] You... You wish to challenge me with that axe of yours? ...You're amusing, I'll grant you that. I'm sure you'd have Linus laughing if he were here. Be warned, you would do well not to take me lightly. | ” | — Against Hector. |
---|
“ | It matters not who you are. It's too late... I will avenge my brother's death. One by one... | ” | — Lloyd, in Chapter 27E/29H of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. |

---|
“ | You there, who are you? [...] The Black Fang commander's son, Lloyd Reed... You remind me of my brother. Something about you... [...] My brother, whom you killed. My brother, Linus....It's none of your business...... [...] ......Well spoken. If you don't want to give your brother cause to mourn, you'd best fight well....... Prepare yourself. | ” | — Against Hector, in Chapter 27E/29H of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. |
---|
“ | Nino... [...] Do not speak. We are enemies now... I can show you no mercy. [...] They were Linus's enemies... That is why I fight. [...] Don't cry, Nino. You must live for the future. I am bound to this course. Kill me, and don't look back. | ” | — Against Nino, in Chapter 27E/29H of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. |

---|
“ | The Hurricane... I heard you'd quit the Fang, but... Seeing you with them is... [...] ...... [...] Who knows... But my brother's dead. And at the hands of your newfound friends... Trivia
- Instead of using the normal Swordmaster battle sprite, as with most other characters of that class in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (such as Karel, pictured), Lloyd receives his own unique battle sprite, designed to better match his appearance in his official artwork.
- In Cog of Destiny, Lloyd's weapon was changed from a Runesword in the Japanese version to a Light Brand in the western version. However, Nils's augury for the chapter ("I sense a dire foe in the battle ahead. The weapon he wields is cursed. A sword that steals life energies and feeds them to its wielder.") was not changed to reflect this.
