Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Sakura is the first Shrine Maiden in Birthright and Revelation. In Birthright, she is available from Chapter 5; in Revelation she is unavailable from Chapter 6 to the end of Chapter 8. She is a typical early-game healer, with low bulk, but with staff utility. She cannot face combat, but can provide healing to the rest of the army in the first few chapters as she is the only staff user aside from Jakob and Felicia. Sakura starts with two skills: Quiet Strength and Miracle. Quiet Strength is a great utility skill, as it makes all of the player's units significantly bulkier. Miracle can save Sakura in combat where she can be defeated, but it cannot do so reliably, and she is generally not useful in combat regardless.
Sakura has high growths in magic, skill, speed, and luck. As a Shrine Maiden, she will get access to Rally Luck, which can be useful when facing enemies with high critical hit or to help units' luck-based skills activate more reliably, but has generally less utility than other rally skills. She has the option to promote to Onmyoji or Priestess. Promoting to Onmyoji gives her access to scrolls, and extra magic at the cost of some luck. Because of her great speed and magic, Sakura does well in isolated instances of combat, but her low bulk limits who she can fight safely. In Onmyoji, she gains access to Rally Magic and Tomefaire. Rally Magic is an excellent utility skill, but Tomefaire comes late and Sakura will likely be outclassed by other combat-oriented magic users with better durability. Priestess has the maximum staff level of A, and grants the ability to wield bows; Sakura's low strength and starting bow level of E means she will ineffective with the few bows she can use. If she reaches C bows—which can be achieved with two Arms Scrolls—she can use the magic-based Shining Bow to deal good damage, but she will have the same long-term combat problem as in Onmyoji, and the Shining Bow is impossible to obtain in Birthright. Priestess additionally grants the Renewal and Countermagic skills. Renewal removes the need for other units to heal Sakura, but her poor combat means she should generally not be in situations where she can take damage. Countermagic is relatively useless, as Sakura's high resistance means she will take little damage from magic weapons, and thus deal little damage back.
On the subject of reclassing, Sakura has access to the Sky Knight class line, but because of her low strength and inability to use staves this is considered a suboptimal class for her, alongside the Kinshi Knight class. Falcon Knights can use staves, and thus is a great class for Sakura as it combines both staff and flying utility. Also, Falcon Knight grants Rally Speed, further improving Sakura's utility. If you choose to go this route, two Arms Scrolls will allow her to use the Bolt Naginata, giving her some combat viability, though she will still have similar durability issues as in the Shrine Maiden class line.
In Birthright, compared to the other early-game healers—Jakob, Felicia, and Azama—Sakura has the advantage of Quiet Strength and a great magic growth; however, Sakura has the worst starting staff level, worst durability, and least flexibility of each of these units. Furthermore, enemies in Birthright are relatively weak, reducing the demand for units dedicated to healing.
In Revelation, Sakura joins at level 4 with D staves in Chapter 8; without class change or child units, she is the second healer available after Jakob or Felicia, with the next being Elise in Chapter 14. Because enemy quality is relatively high in Revelation, her staff utility is useful through at least the early chapters. Another benefit is that Revelations maps often encourage the use of Dragon Veins, which makes royal characters like Sakura useful on those chapters.

Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
There are three different variations of Sakura available to Heroes, all of which are tied to her storyline appearance in Fates. The normal variation of Sakura is one of the characters available to be summoned by players from the game's initial launch. A Halloween variation of Sakura was made available between the period of October 30, 2017 through November 28, 2017 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Trick or Defeat! update. A hot spring-themed variation of Sakura was made available between the period of January 23, 2019 through February 23, 2019 as part of the summoning event surrounding the launch of the Hostile Springs update.
The Halloween variation of Sakura is notably the first character in Heroes to have inherent access to three three-tier passive skill trees; previous characters with inherent access to all three passive type slots have had a one-tier skill in their type-B slot.

Fates. Sakura is a princess of Hoshido, a kingdom currently entrenched in a war with the neighboring land of Nohr. The youngest sibling of the Hoshidan royal family, Sakura is known for her kind heart and bashful demeanor, as well as her healing powers. She can use her bow and the wind to unleash attacks across a wide range. While these attacks may lack in power, her Warrior Specials are quite effective. |

Trivia
- Sakura's favorite fruit is cherries.
- In Chapter 22 of Conquest, Sakura knows the skill Voice of Peace. This skill is impossible for Sakura to learn legitimately when under the player's control, as she has no access to the Songstress class.
- In her eponymous chapter on Normal difficulty, Sakura is one of only two bow-wielding bosses in the franchise who can neither move nor fight at one range, the other being her nephew Kiragi as the boss of Heirs of Fate IV: Light's Sacrifice.
- Sakura is the only character to share her name in a chapter where she is not the primary boss of her chapter. (in this case, Yukimura serves as the primary boss of the chapter named for Sakura).
