“ | I offer relief to those who hurt inside, and yet, I, too, am...afflicted... I strive daily to overcome this curse... ...but still I am weak. | ” | — Lucius to Renault during a support conversation. |

Lucius (Japanese: ルセア Ruthea) is a playable character in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is a devout follower of Saint Elimine, and companion of Raven.
Biography
Lucius grew up in an orphanage after his father, a mercenary, was killed by a thief[2] and his mother passed away of illness. He endured many hardships at the orphanage, including poverty, an abusive instructor,[3] and bullying from his peers due to his feminine appearance.[4]
Eventually, Lucius decided to become a monk, and during his travels became a retainer of House Cornwell. There he met Raymond, who would become his closest friend. After the destruction of House Cornwell, Lucius began traveling with a vengeance-driven Raymond, now know as "Raven".
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade
Role
Lucius is the only playable Monk in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. He is playable in Lyn's, Eliwood's, and Hector's tales. The game's tutorial uses Lucius to explain light magic's place in the trinity of magic.
Lyn's tale
Lucius appears and is recruited in Chapter 7 of Lyn's story. He automatically joins the party.
Lucius takes notice of the nearby commotion when Nils is thrown out of the local inn after looking for help to locate Ninian. When a member of the Black Fang threatens Nils, Lucius steps in and defeats him. Lucius then joins Lyn to look for Ninian.
He aids her until Lundgren is defeated, and studies in Caelin for some time afterward before being summoned to another land by Raven.[5]
Eliwood's and Hector's tales
Lucius reappears, with Raven, in Caelin during Chapter 16 of Eliwood's story or Chapter 17 of Hector's story. Raven speaks with the Black Fang guard outside the cell, mentioning that he has a grudge against Ostia—and thus Hector—and convinces the guard to let him out to fight Hector and Eliwood. Lucius objects to this, but Raven tells him to stay in the cell for his own safety.
On turn 7, the imprisoned Caelin soldiers accompanying Lucius, having noticed that Lyn has returned with reinforcements, take out keys and weapons from a hidden place in the cell and let themselves out. Lucius opts not to leave and instead remains in the cell to wait for Raven's return. The Caelin soldiers are sympathetic and give him supplies to defend himself and leave.
Once Priscilla has spoken to Raven, he can return to Lucius's cell and convince him to come along with Eliwood's and Hector's group.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
In Lyn Mode, Lucius has one of the best offensive capabilities. He has no trouble killing most enemies until Chapter 10, thanks to his good magic and excellent speed. Despite the low might of light tomes, his magic is good enough to one-round even in Hard Mode. That said, he faces a severe durability problem. With only 1 base defense and 18 HP, and a meager 10% defense growth, Lucius will always be in danger when attacked. His base resistance is solid and his growth is very good, but his physical durability will always be poor.
After Lyn Mode, Lucius joins at the end of the early game period in both Eliwood and Hector Mode. If he was not trained in Lyn Mode, his stats are mediocre for his join time, and he is seven levels away from promotion. Without promoting, all Lucius can do is deal chip damage to enemies. He can still double many foes thanks to high speed, but does not deal enough damage to kill them. The low might of light magic tomes significantly hurts him here.
That said, if Lucius reaches his promotion to Bishop, he becomes a much better unit. He gains +2 magic, which is good enough on average to make him one-round enemies paired with his high magic growth. He also gains C-rank staves, allowing him to use many useful staves right away. This includes Restore, Barrier and Mend.
Thanks to his high magic growth, Lucius is a good candidate to use the Warp staff later in the game. The player gains access to Pent later on, who has much better base stats than Lucius. He also starts with a high enough base staff rank to use the Warp staff; Lucius needs to grind his from C-rank to A-rank. Still, Lucius is among the better Warp candidates in Blazing Blade.
Lucius will continue to double enemies after promotion, and will have enough magic to one-round most of them. With the added staff utility and potential for Warping, he is among the better units in the game if trained. But, if Lucius is not trained, he cannot contribute very much. If the player does not play Lyn Mode, Lucius is too weak to one-round when he joins, and far away from promotion. This makes him a unit dependent on Lyn Mode investment. Without that investment, making Lucius a useful contributor requires much more time.
Fire Emblem Heroes
Role
Lucius is one of the characters added to the game in the Blazing Shadows update, and became available for summoning by players on March 14, 2017. Only one variation of Lucius is currently available in Heroes, based on his The Blazing Blade incarnation.

Personality and character
As expected of a follower of St. Elimine, Lucius is a gentle, understanding man who believes in healing the suffering of others, such as his dear friend Raven.
He has had his own share of hardship in regards to the passing of his parents and his early life in an orphanage.[6] In the orphanage, Lucius was teased for his feminine appearance, memories that he still recalls in his support conversations.[4] Even when somebody reminds him of his difficult past, Lucius remains polite and kind, and is more concerned for others than himself.
During stressful situations Lucius has a condition, that his bishop has called a "sickness of the soul", where he will become greatly distressed. During these attacks he will pale and appears to have trouble speaking.
