Quan
Quan (キュアン Cuan) was the prince of Leonster, the son of King Calf, the father of Altena and Leif, a full-blooded descendant of the Crusader Noba, and the inheritor of the Gáe Bolg. In his youth, he was educated at the Belhalla military academy, where he met Sigurd of Chalphy and Eldigan of Nordion; the three quickly became close friends and pledged each other's support in times of need, and Quan eventually married Sigurd's sister Ethlyn. When he received word of the Verdane assault on Grannvale in Grann 757, he departed Leonster with Ethlyn and the young knight Finn to assist Sigurd, and travelled with him through Agustria to Silesse.

While Sigurd was in exile in Silesse, Quan departed Sigurd's group to return to Leonster and raise reinforcements to assist him, and on his way through the Yied Desert to do so, he and Ethlyn were beseiged by the Thracian dragon knights and were killed, in what became known as the Yied Massacre. Though he was never formally crowned during his life and in fact was killed before his father, years after his death he was nonetheless referred to as "King Quan" as an honorary title.

Role
Shortly after Sigurd and the remaining Chalphy knights departed to combat the Verdane invasion force and reclaim Jungby, Quan, Ethlyn and Finn arrived to assist him. Though both Sigurd and Ethlyn apologised for what they saw as dragging him into the situation, Quan insisted that he wouldn't have it any other way.[1] During Sigurd's sortie into Verdane to find the missing Adean, Quan asked Ayra about the Grannvale-Isaach war, concerned about the nature of it given his father's high regard for Isaach's King Mananan. He learned of the role of Rivough's leader in sparking the role, the assassination of Mananan, and Ayra's role in being entrusted with Shanan.
Quan remained with Sigurd's army throughout the conflict with Agustria. One year into the Grannvale occupation of the country, when its King Chagall started stirring trouble, Ethlyn revealed to him that his father had entrusted her with the Gáe Bolg, just in case; she handed it over to him, to better facilitate ending the conflict. The two and Finn initially accompanied Sigurd to Silesse when he fled there from Langobalt's army, but departed shortly thereafter to return to Leonster to raise assistance for Sigurd. During their time back in Leonster, their youngest child Leif was born.
As Sigurd's army made its way from Silesse back to Grannvale, Quan and Ethlyn were also travelling there, now accompanied by Leonster's Lance Ritter squadron, with the intent of assisting Sigurd in opposing Langobalt and Reptor; the then-three-year-old Altena was with them, while Leif remained behind in Leonster under the care of Finn. However, as they crossed the Yied Desert, Thracia's King Travant and a squad of Thracian dragon knights appeared in pursuit of them, hired by Veld of the Loptyrians.[2] Taken by surprise, Quan attempted to fight back as his knights were slaughtered, but even with the Gáe Bolg he was overpowered and killed, as was Ethlyn. From their corpses, Travant took Altena and the Gáe Bolg, raised Altena as his own daughter, and entrusted her with the Gáe Bolg in his service.
Starting stats and growth rates
|
|
If either Quan or Ethlyn are killed in battle while playable, both will leave the player's party. Both will leave the party, along with Finn, before the beginning of Chapter 4.
In Chapter 5, after Lubeck Castle has been seized, Quan, Ethlyn and a squad of Leonster knights will appear as partner units in the map's south-east corner. His stats here are the same as they were when he left in Chapter 4, except for his items - he instead possesses only the Gáe Bolg, even if the player did not obtain it while he was playable in Chapter 3.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Quan is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the Genealogy of the Holy War first-generation character set. He is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Lost Bloodlines DLC series, and as a NPC in Lost Bloodlines 2.
