I am proud of my father, and I stand by his decision—despite the grief it brought me personally. Long have I endured the Empire's tyranny, comforted by the belief that we would meet again—and now that day has come.
— Linoan

Linoan (Japanese: リノアン Linoan) is the Duchess governing the Free City of Tahra in the Manster District, a distant relative of Grannvale's House Belhalla and a bearer of Naga Holy Blood. A friend and ally of the fugitive Prince Leif of Leonster, she governed Tahra following her father's death, withstanding years of Grannvale oppression toward the city and assassination attempts against her culminating in a final bid to invade in Grann 776. She was long betrothed to Prince Areone of Thracia, who sent Dean to aid her and act as a bodyguard.[2]

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Role

When Leif's rebel army arrived in Tahra in Grann 776, during an attempted invasion of the city by the Friege army, Linoan was there to greet him and implored his assistance in repelling the siege. Near the end, she arranged a deal with Areone to surrender Tahra to Thracian control in order to protect it from Grannvale and the Bergrosen, and fled the city along with Leif's army and her citizens.

Personality and character

Linoan is devoted to the people of Tahra and views their well-being as paramount, above even her own life, and thus regrets any action which leaves her safe while they remain in peril.[3] Following her father's death, she lost the family manse and was subject to two years of abusive treatment from a Grannvale administrator who restricted her movements and regularly demanded information on Leif's whereabouts from her. Dean's support, both moral and defensive, helped her maintain her composure throughout this time.[2]

I remember Brother being so honored by the trust His Highness had placed in him... I've never seen him happier. But it wasn't without its cost. To preserve the secrecy of his mission, Brother had to make it look like he'd simply deserted from the army.

It pains me to abandon the citizens who've stood by me for so long during our rebellion, but I believe this would be best for everyone.
