Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Homer has some trouble getting up to speed initially, since he joins underleveled with lackluster bases. Further compounding this is his lack of access to Wind before promotion (as it has a D-rank requirement), so even with Fire, the lightest tome available, he will only have 6 attack speed at base. However, he has every tool in the book to make him easy to train. He uses magic and has access to all magic types other than dark and wind prior to promotion, letting him avoid counterattacks on player phase in most cases. He has Paragon, significantly increasing his experience gain, and with an FCM of 5, he has a guaranteed crit set-up with the Lightning tome. Finally, his promotion to Sage is among the best promotions in the game. It has incredible statistical gains and gives Homer a D-rank in staves, making him double as a utility unit – albeit worse than dedicated staff users. It also increases his D-rank in light magic up to B, which allows him to use Nosferatu, which can be found in a house in the chapter he joins, but the other unit that can use it at this point of the game is Linoan, who joins one chapter later with a B-rank in light magic at base. He starts a bit fragile, and this problem never outright disappears – but he becomes much more durable after promotion, since he gains a massive 6 magic and 4 defense.

While Homer is underwhelming at base level, he is among the easiest units to train. When he is trained up, he has good 1–2 range – scarce in Thracia – and will be one of the best boss killers available. As such, if the player wants to raise a growth unit, Homer is an excellent choice.

Endings

Homer, Traveling Bard
Homer toured the entirety of Thracia, performing in every city, big or small. Everywhere he went, he sang the heroic saga of Leif. Based on his first-hand experience in Leif's army, his song was universally beloved, and became a staple of Thracian culture.
