— Safy to Shiva in Chapter 7:The Shield of Thracia
Shiva first appears in Chapter 2, under the employ of Lifis. He was working as a mercenary for Lifis at his base in the Corsair Isles when the Fiana Freeblades led their assault on his pirate crew. Before the fighting began he warned Lifis not to harm Safy, a priest held captive by Lifis. Shiva escaped the fighting alive, and went on to work for a group of bandits that intercepted Leif and his retinue during their escape from Munster. He was approached by Safy, who convinced him to join Leif's forces. He accompanied Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation of Munster. His involvement, if any, with the war after Leif's forces merged with Seliph's is unknown, as he does not appear in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.
Note that killing Shiva when he appears in chapter 2x will cause him and his entire mercenary group to not appear in Chapter 7.
Starting stats and growth rates
Promotion stat gains
Shiva is a standard myrmidon that joins in chapter 7. He comes with solid bases and growths, an action star, a very high FCM of 4, a very high sword rank and the skill Sol. At first Shiva seems like a very strong combat unit as he will have a guaranteed critical hit on his second attack with the Killing Edge. However as the game goes on, Shiva's mediocre strength will become more apparent and he will need to rely on his high PCC more and more. Shiva is also fairly frail and has low enough magic to fall to every enemy status staff and siege tome. Upon promotion Shiva gains the skill adept, which works excellently with his high speed allowing him to not need to rely on critical hits as much. Another aspect worth mentioning is the low enemy quality in Thracia 776 meaning that most other units will have similar combat to Shiva, but often with other utility, such as having a mount or access to staves. This is not to say that Shiva is bad. Shiva can serve as a solid combat unit and even bosskiller throughout the entire game and also uses swords which are the best physical weapon type in Thracia 776, but he will have a hard time standing out among most of the cast on most maps.

Shiva, Mercenary of Savan
After the war, Shiva disappeared. Various speculations and theories have been made about this man of many mysteries, but none have been, and ever will be, confirmed.
