Robert (Japanese: ロベルト Robert) is a minor playable character appearing in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. He is an Arch Knight that joins Leif's liberation army.
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Role
Robert joins Selphina in the defense of Hannibal's mansion during Chapter 9. Robert does not have a single line of dialogue outside of his death and retreat quotes.
Robert accompanies Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation of Munster. His involvement, if any, with the war after Leif's forces merged with Seliph's is unknown, as he does not appear in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Robert joins as a level 1 Arch Knight with horrible base stats for his join time, except for passable speed. His weapon ranks are also horrible - he has an E-rank in bows with no weapon experience and no other weapon types that he can use. As a level 1 unit, Robert is far away from promotion, and he has no skills, either, being considered worse than Selphina, who has better starting skill, speed and defense, Accost and a B-rank in bows. He compensates by having good growths, especially in speed and luck, better constitution than her, preventing him to lose as much speed and allowing him to wield his starting Iron Bow with no speed penalty (he has 7 constitution compared to Selphina's 5), and a higher follow-up critical multiplier. However, when he joins, he cannot contribute very much.
Robert's class comes with some advantages. He has 2-range, so he can avoid counterattacks from enemies. He also has a mount outdoors, so his mobility vastly increases on outdoor maps, and he can perform a defensive retreat after attacking thanks to Canto. Outside of these benefits, Robert has a decent FCM of 3 and an action star. The latter gives him a 5% chance to move again after he completes his turn. It is unreliable, but it is something he has that several other units lack.
That said, Robert also has several disadvantages. Outside of his low base stats for this point of the game, he cannot counter at 1-range, because he can only use bows. He receives dismount penalties indoors, decreasing his already poor stats. Indoor maps also cut into Robert's movement, removing one of his few advantages. As a bow user, Robert cannot capture enemies, either. While he would be a poor candidate for it anyway because of his mediocre constitution, it is still a flaw. A consolation prize is that he keeps his main weapon type on indoor maps, unlike most other knights, who are forced to use only swords indoors. Thanks to that, he can operate like a foot archer indoors.
Overall, Robert is a growth-reliant unit who can barely contribute at base level. Players who do not want to waste time on training units will bench him. Crusader Scrolls and the Paragon Manual can help Robert catch up, though. Once he is trained, he can contribute with 2-range combat, but without training, he will never do much of note.
Personality and character
Robert is nondescript, and given no explicit personality traits. His ending suggests that he is timid and sheepish. His profile on the Thracia 776 website mentions he is a war orphan and that he has an attachment to Selphina.[1] His supports suggest he also has some connection to Glade though the game never elaborates on it.

Robert, Bow Knight of Leonster
After his strong requests, Robert was put in the new Kingdom of Thracia’s royal guard. Robert himself was probably trying his best to be a legendary warrior, but he never could fix his timidity. Apparently, more than a few of the female servants in the castle found his sheepish nature cute.
