“ | If I go back, I have to succumb to the will of my late father and succeed the throne. But my uncles would never have it. One slip up and there'd be mutiny, like there is here. You know who suffers then? The people. | ” | — Levn |
---|
Levn (レヴィン Revin) is the errant prince, later king, of Silezha, the son of Queen Rahna and his late predecessor, and a full-blooded descendant of the Wind Crusader Sety. In his youth, displeased at the inheritance squabbles of his uncles Maios and Daccar at the expense of their subjects, he departed Silezha to travel the world as an anonymous bard. In time, he came to Agustria, where he became involved in Siglud's efforts to oppose King Chagall's abuses of the people, and accompanied Siglud in exile to Silezha, where Rahna gave him the Holsety tome, and then back into Grandbell; during the conflict, he married the Silezhan knight Ferry and had with her two children, Sety and Phee. Seventeen years after the Battle of Barhara, he emerged as an important figure in the liberation wars against the Grandbell Empire, serving as the personal advisor of Serlis.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
First generation
Levn was passing through Agustria at the time of Sigurd's first conflict with King Chagall, having spent some time with Sylvia. When Macbeth unleashed bandits on the Agustrian villages, Levn departed to fight them, with Sylvia following. He confronted Sigurd about the misery his fight with Chagall caused the people of Agustria, but was impressed by Sigurd's attitude and sided with him to finish the job. During the fight he encountered Ferry, dispatched by his mother to find him and tricked by Chagall into thinking he was a hostage held by Sigurd; he reluctantly agreed to return to Silezha with her after sorting out some problems, and she joined Sigurd's army to stay with him in the meantime. The two were married at some time after this*.
When Rahna gave Sigurd free refuge in Silezha after being branded a traitor, Levn went with him. He and Rahna had some difficulty getting along in light of how he abandoned her, though Mahnya insisted that Rahna was actually happier than she had been in a while to see him. He fought in the subsequent civil war sparked by his uncles, enraged at their abusive approach to the people and country and by the death of Mahnya, and when Sigurd's army reclaimed Silezha Castle, Rahna presented him with his birthright, the Holsety tome, to use in assisting Sigurd on his quest for justice.
Levn was present at the Battle of Barhara, and was personally killed by Archbishop Manfroy during or after it. He was revived soon after by Holsety, who also took possession of Levn at the cost of some of Levn's memories. After being revived, Levn completely disappeared for a time, leaving Ferry to rule Silezha and raise their children alone in the face of Grandbell. Years later, Levn found Yuria in Barhara shortly after her narrow escape from her Loptous-possessed brother, amnesiac and badly injured. He took her to a remote region of Silezha to take care of her.
Second generation
During his fight against the Dozel occupation of Isaac, Serlis encountered Levn after conquering Ganeishire Castle. Praising Serlis's decision to launch his revolution at this time, Levn left Yuria in Serlis's care as Silezha was proving too troublesome to house her in, then departed for Lenster. Levn returned shortly after Serlis defeated Danan and conquered Rivough, bringing news of the state of the world and introducing Serlis to the full scope of the activities of Grandbell. He advised Serlis to travel south to Lenster to meet with Leaf and his liberation force, then departed with him, acting as an advisor and tactician.
At Darna, Levn gave Serlis a brief lesson in the history of the Twelve Crusaders, and a cryptic message about the "return" of the Crusaders. As Serlis's army stormed Grandbell at the climax of the war, Levn shared with him a more detailed history of the Crusaders, identifying the gods and Loptous as dragons, explaining the crucial role Naga's power plays in combating Loptous, and confirming that Yurius was possessed by Loptous and appared to be reconstructing the Lopt Empire.
At the end of the war, despite the pleas of Sety and Phee*, Levn declined to return to Silezha with them, insisting that he would be a liability to the restoration of the country. Before departing himself, Serlis realized the true nature of Levn as the host of Holsety, and thanked Holsety for his assistance.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
After Leaf's escape from Tahra, Levn appeared before August. Apparently employing August in some unknown task, Levn mentioned that he never expected any other outcome than the fall of Tahra, and that he would "check on" Orgahil before returning to Isaac; he then left, wishing August luck in the year of work ahead of him.

Before the Battle of Barhara, Levn's primary concern was for the common man. He has no patience for the power struggles of the nobility and for the harm caused to the people in the crossfire, and it was for precisely this reason that he left Silezha to travel the world. Where this was not a concern, he was a capricious individual intent on relaxing and escaping trouble where possible, and a mild womanizer. When he was younger, he developed a romantic interest in the Angelic Knight Mahnya; as he matured, however, he found himself instead interested in Ferry, Mahnya's sister.
