Helswath
| ||||||
|
Helswath (Japanese: スワンチカ Swanchika) is a regalia axe introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. It is the holy weapon once wielded by Nál of the Twelve Crusaders, bestowed upon him at the Miracle of Darna after his blood pact with a dragon. The axe is the property of Nál's descendants, the members of Grannvale's House Dozel, and is restricted in use to those in possession of major Nál Holy Blood.
History
By the year Grann 760, the axe became the property of Duke Lombard of Dozel, who at Lubeck Castle wielded it in his efforts to stop Sigurd and his group from returning to Grannvale, dying in the battle. In the aftermath of this battle, Helswath was inherited by Lombard's son Danann, who did not have it with him in his occupation of Rivough Castle; instead, it was kept by Danann's own son Brian. Brian wielded it in his confrontation with Seliph's liberation army as it marched on Grannvale itself, also dying in the battle.
Millennia later, Helswath came into the possession of the Grimleal, and was given to its reincarnation of the Deadlord Tigris. By this point, the axe is no longer sealed to the Nál bloodline and is capable of being used by any axe-wielder of reasonable skill.

Helswath appears as one of Mamori Minamoto's Carnages in Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE. In Japanese, it is called Holy Axe Helswath which is implied to be a highly-enhanced Helswath in a similar vein to Itsuki Aoi's True Falchion.

Trivia
- Along with Gungnir, Mjölnir and Valflame, Helswath is one of the Crusader weapons completely inaccessible and unusable to the player in Genealogy of the Holy War. Though there are several playable members of the Dozel family (Lex, Iuchar, Iucharba), they all have minor Nál blood and thus are unable to use the axe. It was not until Awakening that Helswath became a player-usable weapon.
- In Awakening, Helswath is the only Jugdrali regalia weapon to appear which does not have any of its original wielders from Genealogy of the Holy War present in the game (bearing in mind that it is possible to have Larcei or Scáthach wield Balmung through a glitch if Chulainn is their father).
