Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

Gae Bolg (ゲイボルグ, Geiborugu) is the lance once wielded by Noba of the Twelve Crusaders, bestowed upon her at the Miracle of Darna after her blood-bond with a dragon. The blade is the property of Noba's descendants, the royal family of Lenster, and can only be wielded by those in possession of major Noba Holy Blood.

Before Cuan and Ethlin depart Lenster to assist Siglud in his dealings with Verdane, King Calf entrusts the Gae Bolg to Ethlin in case the situation gets too out of hand. One year into Siglud's occupation of Agustria, with King Chagall's launch of an assault on Siglud's position at Agusty Castle, Ethlin hands the spear to Cuan, noting that she had been reluctant to do so because of its unfortunate history, the Tragedy of the Gae Bolg. Cuan uses it in the fight against Chagall and the Orgahil pirates, and has it with him when he, Ethlin, the infant Altenna and the Lenster knights make their ill-fated journey through the Yied Desert. After Trabant slays Cuan and Ethlin, he takes the Gae Bolg and Altenna for himself.

Over the following years, Trabant raises Altenna as his own daughter; her inheritance of Cuan's major Noba blood allows her to wield the Gae Bolg, and so she uses it in the service of Thracia, defending the country from Seliph's liberation army until she meets her younger brother, Leaf, who eventually convinces her of her Lenster heritage and to, with the encouragement of her foster brother Areone, leave Thracia and ally with Seliph.
