Tap Battle (Japanese: タップバトル Tap Battle) is a game mode in Fire Emblem Heroes first made available on February 9, 2018. A departure from the game's standard means of battle, Tap Battle plays as a rhythm game where, as the mode's name implies, players fight enemies by tapping a certain area of the screen in time with the music in a similar vein to the Battle Music mode of the Theatrhythm series.
Overview
During a Tap Battle event, players take on 100-floor dungeons in groups of five called stages, with a boss at the end of every fourth stage (20 floors). On the first day of an event, only eight stages (40 floors) are available, with an additional four stages (20 floors) becoming available each of the next three days until all 100 floors are available on the fourth day of the event. Starting from the fourth Tap Battle event, Illusory Dungeon: Sanctuary of the Mages, extra stages start to become available after the regular stage selection finishes its initial availability.
If a foe reaches a character, one heart's worth of health is lost; the stage is failed if all hearts are lost. The stage is cleared once the last foe leaves the stage with health still remaining. Ordinary adversaries are defeated with a single tap; bosses require multiple taps in order to drain their health meter, and can jump between rows in between their attack attempts, and are defeated once their health meter is fully drained. Players earn a combo score based on how many enemies they defeat without missing that is used to calculate their rank at the end of the stage (from C to S, with an S rank only being earned for achieving a perfect score).
Players start a run of a dungeon with three hearts worth of health. Each boss defeated adds one additional heart worth of initial health to their own health meter, up to a maximum of eight hearts.
Gameplay modes
Tap Battle can be taken on in two difficulties, Normal and Hard, as well as two control modes, Casual and Expert, which can be mixed and matched; all rewards earned in this mode can be earned regardless of difficulty and control mode, meaning one player can play Normal Casual and another can player Hard Expert and both get the same rewards. In addition to the regular rewards available for simply clearing the stages, there are often additional quests available during the duration of a Tap Battle event that offer additional rewards that aren't specifically tied to a single stage.
Successfully tapping the designated area of the screen with an enemy positioned perfectly allows players to instantly defeat any foe that enters that area, and the more consecutive foes that are successfully tapped, the higher the player's combo grows. In Casual Mode, players tap a designated button on the bottom of the screen and the character on the row with the closest enemy will attack; in Expert Mode, players tap the individual lanes for the character on that row to attack.

The following table denotes all of the rewards tables associated with Tap Battle to date.

Trivia
- Text found in the game assets from version 2.2 onward and associated with the mode's music includes names associated with every game in the main Fire Emblem series (in the English-language text, all of the official names of the games with the exception of Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, termed here as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade translating that game's Japanese subtitle in lieu of having an English subtitle of its own) as well as Warriors and Heroes itself, thus implying future dungeons will add to the music selection; as of the fourth Tap Battle, Illusory Dungeon: Sanctuary of the Mages, seven of these games have been represented.
- Floors 56-60 of Illusory Dungeon: Shadowed Memories is the first stage in the mode to include non-generic, non-boss enemies in the enemy selection, in this case Palla, Catria, and Est; likewise, Ogma and Barst appear on floors 76-80.
