“ | It ain't like anybody can replace Eyvel, but you still got a long way to go before this war is lost. An' hey, captured ain't dead, right? We'll get Eyvel back—together. | ” | — Dagdar, to Leif |
---|
Dagdar (Japanese: ダグダ Dagdar) is a Thracian ex-bandit, the leader of a group of brigands based in Mount Violdrake, and a friend and ally of Eyvel and the Fiana Freeblades. Along with his daughter Tanya and subordinate Marty, he was one of Leif's first allies into his liberation army against Munster.
Biography
Dagdar was the leader of a group bandit in Mount Violdrake. Later, he met Eyvel and joined the Fiana Freeblades.[1] When Raydrik's forces invaded Fiana, Dagdar, Tanya, and Marty arrived in Fiana to help Leif and Eyvel free it from the Munster occupation. Dagdar continued to accompany Leif until his capture at Fort Kelbeth; Dagdar then retreated to Mount Violdrake to muster his men for a direct assault on Munster. Back in his mansion, however, Dagdar's bandits mutinied, led by his former minion Gomez, and Dagdar and Tanya were attacked by his former band; they were saved by Leif and rejoined his army.
If Dagdar was to die during the war, his body was used by Manfroy to create the Deadlord Tigris as a last line of defense before Veld.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Much like Eyvel, Dagdar is available very early in Thracia 776, starts promoted, and is also very useful. He has immense base HP and can attack four times with the Brave Axe, as he is still fast enough to double enemies early on. Dagdar also has the Accost skill, which allows him to initiate another round of combat if his HP and attack speed are higher than his opponent's. Since he doubles enemies in the early game and his HP is enormous, the second highest base HP in the game, he can trigger Accost reliably, which allows him to one-round most enemies.
Due to Dagdar's high constitution and combat prowess, he is one of the best units for capturing enemies, since he can reliably attack them multiple times and has sufficient constitution to bear the weight. He can be used throughout the game, although his usefulness does deteriorate later on since he stops doubling enemies and his growth rates are very low. He can be sufficient for a few things throughout the game, though his skill and luck can be a particular issue for his hit rates, which is compounded by not having access to many high hit rate weapons as well as not being able to increase these stats very easily. His lack of access to any magical damage, as well absence of a high FCM may also render him somewhat ineffective when dealing with some tougher enemies.
His Accost skill is a double-edged sword. If he has more HP and attack speed than the enemy at the beginning of combat, he will initiate another round of combat, but this can occur even if Dagdar cannot attack—for instance, if he is being shot at by a Ballista, it may attack him multiple times while he cannot retaliate.
Dagdar leaves the army at the end of Chapter 3, just like everyone else except Leif and Lifis, but he comes back much earlier than Eyvel does. Also much like Eyvel, his bases hold up for the majority of the game, which makes him viable even late-game.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Role
Dagdar is playable as a SpotPass character, released in the Thracia 776 character set. He is also present as an enemy in the first and third installments of the Lost Bloodlines DLC series.

Personality
Despite his status as a bandit boss, Dagdar is a kind-hearted man; August theorises that he and many of his men were the victims of circumstance of being born in the impoverished nation that is Thracia, and that he was abandoned by his parents as a child and forced to grow up as a bandit.[2] By default he is more inclined to peace and talking problems through, but will gladly take violent exception to being abused by his inferiors/[3] He possesses an immense mutual respect for and confidence in Eyvel, considering her to be far superior to him as a warrior.[4]
