- This page is about a feature that is no longer available on the physical release of the game, however the feature is available on the Virtual Console release.
The online shop (Japanese: オンラインショップ online shop) is a feature of the two Nintendo DS installments of the Fire Emblem series, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, which made use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection online service. Functionally an armory and thus run by an Armorer, the online shop offered a wide assortment of items, including several not typically available in the in-game shops.
The online shop included items that would typically be offered by vendors, and thus Larabel, in-game. The online shop model would eventually go on to serve as the default armory model in Awakening.
The online shop didn't offer its entire assortment of items simultaneously. In Shadow Dragon, items were made available on a set schedule. This ensured some of its inventory was different each day of a week or in certain times of a month. The date went by the online shop's servers; altering the Nintendo DS clock would not have an effect. In New Mystery of the Emblem, items were instead made available at random and eight items were made available per day.
Along with most Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection services, the online shops in both Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem permanently closed on May 20th, 2014.[1] For Shadow Dragon, this had the effect of rendering the Elysian Whip (and in turn the Falcoknight class) and three of the Brave weapons as essentially unused content, as well as rendering the fourth Brave weapon exclusive to a single enemy in five-star hard mode, for new save files created after that date on original cartridges. However, the Virtual Console re-release of Shadow Dragon restores the ability to freely access the online shop.[2]
