The Virtual Console (Japanese: バーチャルコンソール Virtual Console) is a brand name that was formerly used by Nintendo's online eShop under which old games from Nintendo's earlier consoles and those of other former console manufacturers were sold. The service was aimed to provide an alternative to emulating pirated software by opening up the vast back catalogues of Nintendo and its partners in the service for legal purchase in the modern market. Games sold through Virtual Console were released through digital downloads directly in the console in question itself, which are emulated by the software and thus play near-identically to their original release.

Virtual Console titles were released for the Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS consoles; however, Virtual Console titles can no longer be purchased on them due to the closure of the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop. The Nintendo Switch console forwent Virtual Console and instead gives the player access to select games from older systems through its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.

Nine Fire Emblem series games were released through Virtual Console, six of which were exclusively available in Japan.
