The Pyrathi Dragon (Japanese: ペラティの火竜 Fire dragon of Pyrathi) is the ninth chapter in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. It is one of the five chapters that were cut from Book I of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Plot

Main article: The Pyrathi Dragon/Script

Marth's group arrives in Pyrathi, and is immediately attacked by King Mannu, who is enraged that an outsider would dare trespass upon his kingdom. During the battle, Marth recruits Jeorge, an Archanean sniper who escaped Dolhrian captivity after the fall of Archanea Palace. After the battle, Catria of the Whitewings arrives. She explains that Princess Minerva of Macedon is being forced into doing Dolhr's bidding because her younger sister Maria is being held hostage by Grust, and asks Marth to rescue Maria so that Minerva can launch a rebellion.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Recruitment: Jeorge

  • Jeorge, a Sniper, is a solid pre-promote with decent offensive stats.
  • He's just 8 attacks short of gaining access to Parthia.
  • For commanders wanting a low-investment archer, Jeorge is the optimal choice.

Initial Threats: Pirates

  • A group of pirates will target your starting position across the sea.
  • Station a few swordsmen as a rearguard.
  • Use the corridor by the treasure room as a chokepoint to limit their advance.

Thief Management:

  • 1st Thief: Targets Jeorge’s village on turn 3. Send your cavalry to take care of him.
  • 2nd Thief: Aims to snatch the Wyrmslayer by turn 5 and escape to the southwest by turn 7. Consider using the Warp staff to halt his escape. Fliers such as Caeda or Dracoknight Jagen are ideal units to send, since they can easily evade the pirates.

Pirate Horde Ambush:

  • A massive group of 15 pirates will rush you from the south.
  • Use Jeorge's Silver Bow for high ranged damage.
  • Deploy your bulkier units as a frontline and ensure a steady supply of healing.
  • Use a specific spot south of the treasure room to divert some enemy attention.
  • This is a golden opportunity for Marth and Julian to enhance their sword proficiency.

The Mannu Challenge:

  • Mannu, the chapter's boss, boasts formidable stats.
  • Capable of one-shotting most units, with the exception of a well-trained General Wolf/Sedgar or an exceptionally fortified Mercenary Barst.
  • Take advantage of Mannu’s single attack range. Merric can safely wear him down from a distance.

Tips:

  • Prioritize the protection of valuable assets like the Wyrmslayer.
  • Use this chapter as an opportunity to bolster the ranks and stats of your less-used units.
