Plot

Main article: In War's Grip/Script

Shortly after Aurelis is liberated, Marth receives a plea for help from a village whose children have been abducted by pirates. Marth immediately races to their rescue. Meanwhile, a foreign swordswoman named Athena prepares to battle the pirates to repay the villagers for nursing her back to health after she washed up on their shores. The village elders convince her to wait until Marth and his army arrive before undertaking such reckless actions. Sure enough, Marth arrives, and with Athena's aid, the village is liberated and the pirates slain. Afterwards, Athena decides to accompany Marth on his journey.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Overview:

Gaiden chapters in Shadow Dragon serve to aid newcomers, offering a break, opportunity for experience, and a replacement unit if needed. This chapter offers a gentler challenge compared to previous ones, pitting players against under-equipped Pirates instead of Macedon's elite.

Key Points:

  1. Enemy Equipment: The foes in this chapter mostly wield inferior Iron weaponry as opposed to the tougher Steel weapons often seen in H5.
  2. Threat Assessment: While most enemies are easily dispatched, beware of the two Mercenaries equipped with Armorslayers. They pose a threat to your Knights and Generals and should be engaged with caution.
  3. Unit Highlight - Athena: As a Myrmidon, Athena is solid. While a well-trained Navarre might outshine her, if your roster is small, Athena is a worthy addition to your units.

Strategy:

Take advantage of the pirates' lack of strategy, allowing them to come to you and be defeated easily. Prioritize neutralizing the Mercenaries with Armorslayers to safeguard your armored units. Utilize Athena's capabilities if in need of strong units. Remember, the Gaiden chapters are meant to be a reprieve. Use this opportunity to regroup and strengthen your forces for upcoming challenges.
