Caladbolg (Japanese: カラドボルグ Caladbolg or クラドホルグ Caladcholg) is a regalia sword which first appeared in the North American and PAL versions of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. There, it is the personal weapon of Edward of the Dawn Brigade, with stats are similiar to the Steel Blade, although it's slightly stronger, lighter, more accurate and with a small crit bonus.

Caladbolg reappeared in Fire Emblem Engage, where it serves as the S-leveled regalia sword, with more might and accuracy compared to the Silver Sword, at the cost of being slightly heavier.

History

Caladbolg is one of the three national treasures of the Kingdom of Daein, along with Lughnasadh and Tarvos. It spent years in storage in Daein's vaults, waiting for a worthy bearer. It was entrusted to Edward by King Pelleas for use in the Daein army's campaign against the Laguz Alliance, and he had his general Micaiah deliver it to Edward.

Fire Emblem Cipher

Caladbolg is present as a skill on one of Edward's cards in Fire Emblem Cipher: B05-057R Cheerful Swordmaster, Edward. It is a Level S Skill which becomes permanently active if Edward is in a stack of 4 or more cards. When active, Edward receives a +10 attack boost on top of the attack boosts gained from his other two skills.

Notably, Caladbolg's appearance on this card is its first appearance in Japanese Fire Emblem material.

Heroes	Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X to unit (X = 25% of foe's Atk at start of combat, - 4; max 14; min 5), neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit, reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduce damage by X%" skills by 50% (excluding area- of-effect Specials), and grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before foe's first attack during combat. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, reduces damage from foe's attacks by Y during combat (when foe's attack triggers foe's Special, Y = 16; when foe's attack does not trigger foe's Special, Y = 8; excluding area-of-effect Specials), and unit's next attack deals damage = total damage reduced from foe's first attack (by any source, including other skills). Trivia

• As with Lughnasadh and Tarvos, Caladbolg was created specifically for the international releases of Radiant Dawn, and is not present in any form in the Japanese version. They are the only items in the entire series to be added in localization in this way. Caladbolg was later reintroduced into Japanese Fire Emblem material by Cipher.
