Maiden of Miracles (Japanese: 奇跡の乙女 The Maiden of Miracles) is the first chapter of Part I of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. In this chapter, the Dawn Brigade flees Nevassa to escape retaliation from the Begnion Occupation Army.

Plot

Main article: Maiden of Miracles/Script

Micaiah, Edward, and Leonardo retreat to their hideout, where they meet up with the Dawn Brigade's leaders Nolan and Sothe. They explain what happened to them, and it is agreed that everyone should leave the city. Micaiah, Edward, Leonardo, and Nolan make their way to a market in a nearby alley to make their escape. They battle their way through Begnion patrols led by Isaiya and break through the enemy forces.

After regrouping with Sothe, the Dawn Brigade only manages to escape when several villagers, including Nico, block the pursuing soldiers. However, Micaiah suddenly has a premonition of misfortune and doubles back just in time to witness the soldiers shoot Nico in cold blood. Micaiah uses her Sacrifice ability to heal Nico's wounds, and Sothe takes her and flees. Jarod arrives on the scene, kills three defiant villagers, and bitterly bemoans the incompetence of his subordinates. As the Dawn Brigade makes their escape, Micaiah vows to return to Nevassa someday.

Beginning log

Tellius – The year 648 – Early summer. The northeastern nation of Daein lost a bloody war with neighboring Crimea three years ago. Crimea, however, abdicated its right to rule Daein and passed sovereignty of its former enemy to the powerful Begnion Empire. Daein's future is now subject to the whims of the empire. Begnion's occupations forces have gathered all of Daein's men of fighting age and put them to work in labor camps. Their work is brutal and void of purpose, designed to break both body and spirit. The remaining population faces poverty and starvation as the fields lie fallow. A band of young heroes has escaped the Begnion army to form a group called the Dawn Brigade. Fighting for a free Daein, they alone have stood against Begnion's forces. They alone have shouldered the hopes of their nation. Among the company is a young girl named Micaiah, who is said to possess mystical powers. The people of Daein have come to know her as the "Silver-Haired Maiden." They have come to think of her as the savior for whom they had been waiting. Begnion's forces have tried time and time again to capture and silence the Dawn Brigade. However, Micaiah's ability to sense impending danger has thus far allowed the Dawn Brigade to evade the empire's grasp.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Your new unit is Nolan, a Fighter. He has surprisingly good bulk for his class, and will serve the Dawn Brigade extremely well as one of their tanks. He also gets a unique weapon, Tarvos, which gives him +5 Defense and makes him a viable contender for the endgame.

Player Turn 1: Start by having Leonardo visit the nearby house for a Vulnerary. Move Edward all the way to the north and have Nolan attack the enemy Soldier in his range. Make sure to trade the Dracoshield from the last chapter into Nolan's inventory. Have Micaiah bring up the rear.
Enemy Turn 1: A Fighter will attack Nolan and another Fighter and the Soldier will tag-team Edward. There is no way around it - Nolan and Edward need to dodge one attack each in order to survive. Given the enemy hit rates are in the 30s to 70s, they have a non-negligible chance of doing so.

Player Turn 2: Have Nolan finish the Soldier, Edward use a Herb, and Leonardo return to the group. Micaiah should kill Edward's Fighter if she can, and Nolan's if she cannot.
Enemy Turn 2: Fighters will attack Nolan and Edward.

Player Turn 3: Micaiah and Leonardo each want to finish one Fighter. Have Edward visit the house for a valuable Hand Axe. Move Nolan to Edward's left to take the Hand Axe, have him reequip his Steel Axe, and use a Vulnerary if necessary and the Dracoshield if not.
Enemy Turn 3: A Soldier attacks Nolan and an Archer advances.

Player Turn 4: Have Micaiah finish the Soldier. Move Nolan two spaces right of the Archer, equip his Hand Axe, and use the Dracoshield. Edward should heal if he needs it.
Enemy Turn 4: The Archer attacks Nolan.

Player Turn 5: Have Nolan attack the next Fighter with his Steel Axe. Move Micaiah one space below Nolan and have her kill the Fighter. Move Edward to Micaiah's left and have him kill the Archer. Finally, move Leonardo below Micaiah.
Enemy Turn 5: Another Fighter to the left attacks Edward; he might end up dead due to Edward's Wrath.

Player Turn 6: Move Nolan one space below Isaiya, have him equip his Hand Axe, and use a Vulnerary if he needs it. Resist the temptation to attack Isaiya with anyone this turn, as it will make him move around and could get you killed. If the fighter who attacked Edward is still alive, have Leonardo wound him and Edward finish him. Make sure Micaiah can reach the escape point next turn.
Enemy Turn 6: Isaiya and the Fighter near him should both attack Nolan.

Player Turn 7: If you need Leonardo to weaken someone, have him do so. Have Nolan kill Isaiya with his Steel Axe, claiming a Steel Sword in the process. Have Edward take the Steel Sword (he should easily be a C swordsman by now) and kill the Fighter. Then escape with Micaiah, claiming victory.

Once again, Edward needs to grow Strength and Speed in order to keep up his damage output. Nolan should have either leveled up or be on the brink of doing so; he needs to grab Strength in order to avoid getting doubled and get some safe kills in the next chapter.
