Harvest Scramble is a downloadable content xenologue chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. As a xenologue chapter, it does not officially bear a chapter number; if all xenologues are purchased and its list is viewed at the Outrealm Gate, Harvest Scramble is the nineteenth one from the top in the North American version of the game. Officially in Japan and unofficially in North America, Harvest Scramble is part of the second series of DLC releases, a distinction that does not exist in the PAL regions.
This chapter was first made available on August 9, 2012 in Japan and April 25-26 in North America and the PAL regions.
In this chapter, Risen have attacked a harvest festival, and it's up to the Shepherds to protect the area...while not letting the task get in the way of their enjoyment of the festival.

In a new Outrealm set up for a harvest festival, Frederick indicates the Shepherds' arrival to what he believes to be the place; he asks to look at the people in the streets and the decorations, deducing that the Shepherds have arrived at a festival of some sort. Chrom does notice that the area looks to be set up for a festival and that the town seems secure, then asks if the Shepherds could forget their troubles for a day and join the festivities; Lissa, sporting a party hat, asks Chrom if he means it and that she loves festivals, then tells Chrom to join her and asks what he's waiting for. Chrom asks Lissa where she got the party hat, to which Lissa states a nice man with funny sideburns gave it to her; Chrom asks about the funny sideburns, to which the man who gave Lissa the party hat, Vincent, sporting a party hat of his own, welcomes Chrom to his humble little village--it's not every day they get guests from another world. Chrom states he knows Vincent, to which Vincent introduces himself as the captain of the village cheer brigade, to which Chrom states Vincent does seem quite cheerful; Vincent states of course he's cheerful, the village's annual harvest fair has just started--singing, dancing, everyone's having a gay old time in this town. Vincent asks Chrom why he's staring the way he is, asking if his party hat's crooked; Chrom denies it, can't find the words he's looking for, then asks about the harvest festival. Vincent states it's got all kinds of produce as well as games, prizes, and fun at every stall, asking Chrom to take a look and not to forget to bring a friend; Vincent states that locals say the fair has a special magic that brings folks closer together--there's so much to do, see, and talk about, one starts chatting and eventually can't stop, to which Frederick states he believes he sees Vincent's point. Frederick states it seems a worthy endeavor to strengthen the ties between the Shepherds, and states he shall inform the others; Lissa asks who she should invite, considering Maribelle the target for her invitation, then asks Vincent who he's taking to the festival. Vincent tells Lissa he's glad she asked, and his partner should be here any second, then locates Victor; Victor comes onto the scene calling out Vincent and stating the situation's terrible, horrible, and awful, to which Vincent asks Victor where his party hat is, noticing Victor's face as looking like he's seen a ghost. Victor states he thinks he has seen a ghost--or a zombie at least, as monsters have invaded the village, shambling all over the square, being all moany, and just spoiling everything; Chrom takes note of this report of monsters, and Frederick notes that the Shepherds forgetting their troubles is out of the question. Chrom states it can't be helped, if a village is in trouble, the Shepherds have to lend a hand, asking Vincent and Victor to lead the way--the Shepherds will do all they can to help defend the village; Vincent notes Victor's condition, asking if he's all right, to which Victor says he doesn't have a scratch but states Vincent was right to worry. Chrom asks Vincent and Victor if they heard him, stating that the Shepherds are soldiers and can protect them; Vincent tells Victor that he was worried and still is, asking that they both get out of the area--run home, lock the door, bar the windows, and wait for the whole thing to blow over, to which Victor agrees and notes Vincent is as sharp as a tack, but whatever happns, Victor states that he'll protect Vincent. Chrom again tries to get Vincent and Victor to notice him; Vincent thanks Victor and promises to protect him, to which Victor states he and Vincent make such a great team--Vincent states that they faced that crisis head on and together they made it through. Chrom jumps in on the conversation and tells Vincent he did not face the crisis head on--the crisis is just starting, and Vincent has stated he plans to run; Vincent notices Chrom's still in the area and states Chrom should also run--this area is no place for a bunch of scrawny tourists. Vincent leaves the area, to which Chrom takes offense at the "tourists" comment, then deduces that it's up to the Shepherds to save their cheery backsides, asking Lissa and Frederick to rally the others; Lissa asks if this means that they can still go to the fair, with Frederick giving a silent reaction. Chrom asks Frederick what's going on, to which Frederick asks about Vincent and Victor; Chrom states he knows they came off as rude, but he's certain it wasn't intentional, to which Frederick notes Vincent and Victor's concern dedication to one another as inspiring. Chrom asks about what Frederick just said, to which Frederick states that if they could all demonstrate such compassion for their fellow men, to which Chrom states is one way of looking at it, then starts to ask Frederick if he realizes something; Frederick asks Chrom to wait and states he has something to say--after a stunned reaction from Chrom, Frederick asks that, from this day forward, he and Chrom should share such a relationship, he will be a Vincent to Chrom's Victor. Chrom asks Frederick to grab a lance and start killing things, stating it as a direct order. Battle preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are complete.
The primary meat of this chapter stems in conversations between specific pairs of same-gender characters from the same generation. These conversations take place over two parts; the first part can be initiated from the first turn, while the second part can be initiated from the third turn.
Once the battle ends, Chrom tells Frederick he believes the Shepherds got all of the enemies, to which Frederick states that the townsfolk can get back to their festival; Lissa asks Chrom if he saw the smiles on everybody's faces, to which Chrom confirms and states there's no better reward for doing a good deed. Vincent emerges and tells Victor he wasn't kidding, the monsters really have disappeared, to which Chrom notes Vincent's return; Vincent asks Chrom if the Shepherds are still in the area and are all right, noting that the Shepherds were lucky that those monsters didn't get them, to which Chrom states it was the Shepherds that got to the monsters--and it wasn't luck, it was courage and skilled fighting that won the day. Vincent finally recognizes the Shepherds as soldiers and asks Chrom why he never said so; Chrom is about to state he did say so but instead gives up attempting. Vincent notes Chrom is staring again and asks if his party hat is off kilter, then notes that the Shepherds did save their little village and that deserves a reward--the Shepherds can help themselves to their produce, all they can carry, the least he and Victor can do is share the fruits of their labor; Lissa asks if it's really all right, and states that she'll take all the fruit from between two points that are implied to be a long distance. Frederick then asks Chrom if something else is troubling him, to which Chrom states it's peaceful here and asks Frederick to look at the happy villagers; Frederick states that once again the streets are filled with the sounds of laughter and celebration. Chrom states that the Shepherds saved the town and kept the peace, with Frederick deducing it was a good day for the Shepherds; Chrom states it's not that yet, to which Frederick asks what would, with Chrom stating they can call it a good day the day they bring peace to Ylisse. Frederick states they'll reach that goal and asks Chrom not to doubt it for a moment, and states that once Ylisse is safe, they'll throw their own harvest fair--they'll invite Lissa, Robin, and everyone in the entire kingdom; Frederick also states that he and Chrom will co-captain the cheer brigade just like Victor and Vincent, and perhaps they might even teack them a few of their harvest dance routines if they ask--to which Chrom states that they look at the time, the festival fireworks start in five or six hours, and they'd best hurry to secure seats.

Note: The returning characters list represents the minimum characterbase recruitable by the point the player can first access the Outrealm Gate. If more chapters along the main story path are cleared, or if any paralogues are cleared, the player can have access to characters not listed here by the point the chapter is first started. As bonus units are recruitable at the player's discretion, the returning characters list does not list them either.
If Lissa is deployed in this chapter, she will wear a party hat.

Strategy

In this xenologue, you face off against Risen Revenants who possess a pair of skills to make a challenge. They all come with Miracle and 50 Luck to grant them half a chance to survive otherwise fatal attacks. Note that there are some Revenants who come with Counter, meaning your units are in danger should they end up in a fight with one: a otherwise fatal attack can activate Miracle and return the fatal blow. The Revenants who possess Vengeance can be troublesome if their victim is incapable of counterattacking, as any health those enemies have lost can be added to their attack power.
Scattered around the map are chokepoints, these can be used to attack incoming foes from two to three tiles away and avoid the Counter skill. Having an unarmed high-Defense unit defend an Archer or mage in this manner can be effective unless the weapon runs out of uses. Archers are somewhat useful in this xenologue as they cannot counter adjacent enemies and thus safe from the Counter, though if they have low Defense they may end up being less reliable.
Trivia
- This is the only DLC chapter released on the same day in both North America and Europe.
- This chapter's announcement as one of the first DLC chapter releases for the PAL regions was the first sign that the two-series concept officially used in Japan (and unofficially used in North America based on release timeframes) was to not apply in the PAL regions.
- The PAL regions release of this chapter censors the conversation between Nowi and Tharja. The uncensored Japanese and North American conversation centers mainly around Tharja's breasts, whereas the censored PAL region conversation instead centers mainly around Tharja's hair.
- Despite being given a one-star difficulty rating compared to the two-star ratings of the other Scramble Pack chapters, Harvest Scramble is widely believed to be the hardest map in the Scramble Pack. This stems from enemies potentially having a combination of the Miracle and Counter skills combined with every enemy having 50 Luck.
- The early release of this chapter in the PAL regions, along with the other chapters in the Scramble Pack, was initially believed to be based around the chapters' low difficulty settings. This belief was later disproven when the high-difficulty Rogues & Redeemers and The Future Past chapters saw their PAL region releases before the easier Lost Bloodlines and Smash Brethren maps.
- Despite the chapter's enemies being Risen Revenants and Entombed, they are never once referred to as Risen in any part of the chapter that isn't the character name listings or an optional conversation. This makes this chapter one of four in Awakening to include generic Risen that do not refer to the Risen as such in dialogue, the others being chapter 1, paralogue 16, and EXPonential Growth.
