This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Split your best units between the two groups, but prioritize the upper group if you plan on attacking the left section of the map immediately. The lower group should ideally have fliers, Bow Knights, and/or magic users that are capable of quickly taking out the enemies above them. The useful battalion Opera Co. Volunteers can be attained if Dorothea or Manuela visits the opera house on the left side of where Death Knight starts, though this may require temporarily benching one of your regular units. A Macuil Evil Repelling Co. battalion is also available if Seteth or Flayn visits the church below the opera house.
The reinforcements that arrive from the top on turn 3 can be a problem if you are not expecting them. On Maddening, the safest option is to first send your upper group to the right to attack the enemies around the chest there. Otherwise, quickly take out some of the enemies below you so that you can move your units as far away below the starting point as possible. The enemies here tend to not attack unless you leave a unit in their range, so take care not to get overwhelmed by the flying monsters and Death Knight. Death Knight can be dealt with using some combination of gambits, Lysithea's Dark Spikes, brave weaponry, and effective weaponry such as Rapier. You may need to bait him off the Avoid tile he starts on.
The lower group can work their way up toward the other team while taking out the enemies sitting on the ballistas. Take care when leaving your units in range of the ballistas, as they have a low chance of one shotting your units with a crit. Also remember that reinforcements arrive from the bottom on either turn 6 or after the Death Knight is defeated after the first wave has appeared, which should not be an issue if the lower team is consistently moving up. On turn 5 Hubert will claim the reinforcements are coming, which can be ignored if they were already triggered.
Once your groups are united, work your way to the bottom left of the map while being mindful of enemy ranges. There are no threatening reinforcements after the ones from the top and bottom, so take your time opening the chests. Hubert can easily be dealt with by casting Retribution on a strong unit and leaving them in range of his Meteor spell, in which case he'll die on counterattack. You can also send a flier with the help of Stride or Dance, or Warp a unit to attack him. On Hard or Maddening, there are two reinforcement mages that appear around Hubert if the bottom left area is entered.
A quick clear of this map entails casting Retribution on a flier in the lower group, then putting them in range of Hubert's Meteor spell outside the right wall so that he dies on counterattack. The Chalice of Beginnings can be substituted for Retribution if DLC is available. The only thing left to do is kill Death Knight who can be attacked early with the help of Stride, Warp, and/or Dance.
