“ | Hey, you. Listen up. I've got something to report. | ” | — Abysskeeper's normal greeting to Byleth |
---|
Only known by his occupation, the Abysskeeper (Japanese: 番人 watchman) is a resident of the Abyss that diligently guards its entrance.
Biography
The Abysskeeper grew up in Derdriu, the capital of the Leicester Alliance.[1] At an unknown point, he left for Garreg Mach Monastery and took up a post as a sentry guarding the underground city Abyss, eventually coming to be known as the "Abysskeeper". He maintains his guard throughout Byleth's time as a teacher, and befriends a Knight of Seiros who he nicknames "Mr. Backup". The Abysskeeper continues to maintain his post throughout the war between Adrestia, Faerghus, and Leicester. On the Silver Snow and Verdant Wind routes, he discovers that Mr. Backup was killed in action during the siege of Garreg Mach, much to his sorrow, and meets Mr. Backup's older sister.[3] At the end of the war, he declares his intention to depart Abyss to get married.[4] On the Azure Moon and Crimson Flower routes, at the end of the war he declares his intention to travel the world.[5]
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Role
The Abysskeeper is an NPC ally found while exploring the DLC location Abyss.
Personality and character
The Abysskeeper during his interactions is shown to have a high opinion of himself and of his position, which he relishes doing. Despite his abrasive behavior against potential competition—in the form of "Mr. Backup", a Knight of Seiros sent by Seteth to support his job—he secretly grows to enjoy his company, enough to the point where he eventually considers him a friend and mourns his untimely demise.
