Hidden Bravery (Japanese: 秘めたる覚悟 Hidden Resolution) is the fifteenth paralogue chapter in Fire Emblem Fates. As a paralogue chapter, its events are not integral to the game's main storyline and can be done at the player's leisure. The chapter is unlocked after both clearing chapter 16 in Conquest or clearing chapter 17 in Revelation, and have Xander married.
In this chapter, Xander and Leo arrive in the Deeprealm home to Xander's son, Siegbert, only for them to have to lead Corrin's army into a fight against invaders that seemingly emerge straight from the local swampwater.
Plot
- Main article: Hidden Bravery/Script
Having arrived in a swampy Deeprealm, Leo asks Xander if his son actually lives in this area, to which Xander confirms, yet states it has been awhile since his previous visit.
In another area of the realm, Xander's son, Siegbert, arrives on the scene and notices Xander's arrival; after Xander notices Siegbert's growth since the last visit, Siegbert states that he's been alerted to goings-on on Xander's side of things via missives and reveals that he'd rather hear this information from Xander himself even though he knows Xander is busy. Xander asks Siegbert if he is disappointed in him, to which Siegbert denies; Siegbert states that he's been studying a wide array of talents all day every day in hopes Xander won't be disappointed in him. As Siegbert and Xander attempt to continue their conversation, two enemy Samurai appear on the scene, prompting Siegbert into action to fight off the enemies; Xander attempts to get Siegbert to wait a bit as Siegbert leaves the scene chasing enemy adversaries. Preparations take place at this point.
Once preparations are complete, Siegbert states that there have never been as many enemies in the area as there currently are, to which Xander states that the invaders appear to be emerging straight out of the water itself; Xander states if there's a way to close the doors that lets these invaders in, after which the battle begins.
Once the battle ends, Xander states that this isn't the first time Siegbert's had to beat back enemies and asks him why he hasn't been notified, to which Siegbert states that he couldn't bring himself to disrupt Xander's hardworking routine; Xander then realizes the responsibility Siegbert has taken on in this area and that he himself has failed as a father, after which Siegbert asks if he can leave the Deeprealm, to which Xander confirms but states that he'll be sent back if he proves unready, after which Siegbert and Xander vow to march together.
Summary
Xander heads to see his son, Siegbert, whom he hasn't seen in awhile. The group works together to suppress the sudden arrival of enemies.

Character data
Note: The returning characters list only those recruited by the time this chapter can first be unlocked (after completing chapter 16 in Conquest or after completing chapter 17 in Revelation). As a paralogue chapter, there is no set timeframe in which the chapter must be taken on; thus, it is possible to have recruited more characters than the above by the point the chapter is started.
Item data
There are no event tiles during the events of the chapter. When returning to the area for skirmishes in Revelation, the following event tiles appear:
- Column 5, row 19: Seven squares west of the westernmost player deployment tile
- Column 23, row 21: Seven squares east, two squares south of the easternmost player deployment tile
The Dragon Veins in this chapter are stated to have the effect "Burn wood, dry water, stop reinforcements". They are located as follows:
- Column 4, row 21: One square south, one square east of a Steel Naginata Spear Fighter. This vein spawns the Diviner reinforcements.
- Column 9, row 16: One square south, one square east of an Iron Yumi Archer. This vein spawns the Dark Mage reinforcements.
- Column 16, row 10: Adjacent to an Iron Lance/Javelin Cavalier. This vein spawns the Cavalier reinforcements.
- Column 21, row 8: The boss's position. This vein spawns the Knight reinforcements.
- Column 23, row 12: One square south, one square east of a pair of Poison Strike Ninjas. This vein spawns the Ninja reinforcements.
- Column 23, row 21: Diagonal from two Thunder Dark Mages, two squares south of a Fimbulvetr Dark Mage. This vein spawns the Archer reinforcements.
- Column 18, row 27: Four squares east of the northeasternmost player deployement position. This vein spawns the Spear Fighter reinforcements.
Level scaling data
This chapter's enemy and new player units are subject to level scaling mechanisms that increase their levels as the player makes progress along the main story path. The tables below show the differences between the initial levels of the units and the levels of the units at each particular main story path chapter position. Initial unpromoted units who reach an effective level of 21 will become promoted units of level (effective level -20) unless otherwise stated.

- Additional notes: Siegbert stops visibly scaling upon hitting level 20 unpromoted at the chapter 18 position; from the chapter 19 position onward, Siegbert will have an Offspring Seal in his inventory. The boss and level 19 initial unpromoted enemy units become promoted at the chapter 18 position; level 18 initial unpromoted enemy units become promoted at the chapter 19 position; level 16 initial unpromoted enemy units become promoted at the chapter 20 position.
Enemy data
- Stats are taken from a chapter 17 playthrough, the earliest possible point where this chapter may be undertaken in the Conquest campaign. Levels and stats may be higher depending on progress along the main story path.
