A Vow Upheld (Japanese: 寄り集まる心Gathering Hearts) is the seventh chapter of the Birthright campaign in Fire Emblem Fates. In this chapter, Corrin and his/her army follow Sakura to Fort Jinya to tend to a large number of wounded, only to have to defend the area against a Nohrian platoon led by a childhood friend of Corrin's.
I promise that I'm telling the truth. However, it seems we are destined to clash swords regardless of our past...

— Silas
In addition to the next chapter in the storyline, clearing this chapter will also unlock the first paralogue chapter, and is additionally one of the prerequisites in unlocking the remaining paralogue chapters (the player can unlock up to either three or four such chapters depending on circumstances).
We witness Corrin and Azura walking up toward Fort Jinya, a location Azura introduces; Azura states that Sakura arrived ahead of them and is tending to a large number of wounded Hoshidan soldiers and citizens. Cutting to the inside of the fort, Sakura thanks Corrin for arriving and reveals that her team is short-staffed; Hana and Subaki appear on the scene and introduce themselves, to which Corrin states that Hana and Subaki know more about him/her than he/she does about them, after which Sakura introduces them as her retainers. As Corrin states that they should have plenty of time to get to know each other, Azura states that Nohrian forces are approaching the area and have already surrounded the fort, something Sakura finds unbelievable since they're using most of the fort as a makeshift hospital and thus the fort isn't a military target; as Hana, Subaki, and Corrin start talking about how they'll get to know each other during the heat of battle, Hana and Subaki start to argue over their status within the structure of being Sakura's retainers, forcing Sakura to break up the argument. Once Corrin moblizes the army on Azura's suggestion, preparations take place at this point.
Once preparations are complete, a voice calls out toward Corrin, and once Corrin replies the voice replies back stating that his/her voice is the one he remembers, after which Corrin tells the voice to drop the act as they don't know one another; the owner of the voice, Silas, appears and states that he's surprised that Corrin doesn't remember his/her best friend from childhood, after which Corrin states that he/she doesn't remember much of anything. Azura states that Silas could be acting as a trap, after which Silas states that he promises that he's telling the truth yet it appears he and Corrin are destined to clash swords regardless of their past; the battle begins at this point.
Once the battle ends, Silas begs Corrin to kill him, to which Corrin refuses as it wouldn't be right to do so, stating Silas seemed hesitant to attack even as he led his troops into battle; Corrin asks Silas why he held back and if he even intended to defeat his/her army on Garon's orders, after which Silas states that some things are more important than following orders. Silas explains the background on his and Corrin's interactions back when they were children, after which Corrin states that he/she has started to remember these events; Corrin then explains Garon's motives and the events that led up to his/her fateful decision and vowing to never return to Nohr, after which Silas states he'll join Corrin's cause. Saizo and Orochi approach Sakura shortly afterward and explain that Ryoma and Takumi have gone missing, last seen headed toward Izumo and states that they may have been captured en route; Orochi then introduces herself as one of Mikoto's retainers and reveals that the tactician Yukimura is readying troops to march on Izumo, after which Corrin accepts the task and Sakura states that she's joining the trek. Kaze and Corrin attempt to talk Sakura out of travelling with them, only for Corrin to reconsider after Azura's intervention; Corrin asks Silas if he'll be joining the trek to which Silas confirms, after which Saizo attempts to get Corrin to reconsider believing Silas to be a potential Nohrian spy, only for Kaze to intervene and reveals that he trusts Corrin, after which Corrin calls the army into movement on Azura's suggestion.
Summary
After siding with the Hoshidans and facing off against the Nohrian royals, Corrin and company make their way to Fort Jinya to help tend to the wounded.
