Gautier (pronounced /'ɡɑtieɪ/[key], Japanese: ゴーティエ Gautier) is a character who appears in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Historically, Gautier was one of the 10 Elites who fought in the War of Heroes that led to the formation of modern Fódlan.
Biography
Gautier was one of the Elites who aided Nemesis in his slaughter of the children of the goddess at Zanado. Like the other Elites, he consumed the blood of one of these victims, which manifested as a Crest; he also took that victim's bones and heart to fashion a Hero's Relic, the Lance of Ruin. During the War of Heroes, he fought alongside Nemesis against Seiros and her army, but lost. Despite losing, he and the other Elites were allowed to maintain power in Fódlan so that the truth of the Crests would not be known. Gautier would go on to establish a noble house under his name in the land that would become Faerghus; he then presumably started a family, which led to his bloodline and Crest to continue persisting through Fódlan's history.
If Byleth chooses to lead the Golden Deer, those who slither in the dark's millennium-long plan for revenge against Seiros leads to his resurrection in Imperial Year 1186, alongside Nemesis and the other Elites. As part of the army raised by Nemesis, he cut a bloody swathe through eastern Fódlan alongside them in an attempt to reach Seiros at Garreg Mach Monastery, but he is slain for good by Leicester forces led by Byleth and Claude.
