Nosferatu (Japanese: リザイア Resire) is a recurring tome, which debuted in Fire Emblem Gaiden and has appeared in every game of the Fire Emblem series except Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and its remake Shadow Dragon. In every appearance, it has an HP drain effect—the damage the tome deals to the enemy is used to restore health back to its caster. While in the majority of appearances the amount of HP recovered is equal to the damage dealt to the enemy, some games modify the amount of recovered HP to half the damage dealt.
Throughout the series, Nosferatu has been given multiple weapon types, some seemingly contradictory with each other. It originated as a black magic spell in Gaiden exclusively used by Clerics and Saints (retaining this role in its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia), and is a general tome visually depicted as a holy spell in Mystery of the Emblem and its remake, New Mystery of the Emblem. After the introduction of split magic types, Nosferatu became a light tome in Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. However, it is instead a dark tome in The Binding Blade, The Blazing Blade, The Sacred Stones, Awakening, and Fates; while in Three Houses, it is a white magic spell.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
Nosferatu is Robin's down special move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It is difficult to successfully hit with, but when successful it ensnares and paralyzes its target and rapidly deals small amounts of damage to them so long as they remain ensnared, healing Robin as it does so. It deals more damage when used from behind the foe than it does when used in front of them.
As with all special moves in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Nosferatu has two alternate variations which can be applied to Robin as customization options. These moves are found at random and collected during the course of the game's other modes, such as Classic Mode and Smash Run.
- Distant Nosferatu (Japanese: ロングレンジリザイア Long Range Resire) deals less damage and heals Robin less but has significantly improved range, ensnaring targets a great distance in front of Robin.
- Goetia (Japanese: ゲーティア Goetia) foregoes the healing effect completely and is instead a more powerful attack. When it starts up it has a vacuum effect, which draws foes into its grasp.
Nosferatu and both of its variants are, like all of Robin's special moves, affected by the character's unique durability mechanic. They can only be used four times before they break, after which point Robin must wait forty seconds before they become usable again.
Fire Emblem Cipher
Both Nosferatu and a variant of it are present as skills on two cards in Fire Emblem Cipher, both of which are trigger skills that come into play automatically whenever the unit defeats an opposing unit:
- Nosferatu itself is present on B08-055N Tragic Princess, Julia. Whenever Julia defeats an opposing unit, she gains a +10 attack increase until the end of the opponent's next turn.
- Shade (B09-050N Saint of the Dark Labyrinth) possesses the derivative Punishing Nosferatu. Whenever Shade defeats an opposing unit, the player may retrieve a discarded Shade card and add it to their hand.
Nosferatu appears as Veronica's second skill, dealing three hits of shadow damage to targets near Veronica and healing up to 8% of the damage dealt, up to a limit of 23.1% of her HP.

Trivia
- Nosferatu has been classified as more different weapon types than any other weapon in the Fire Emblem series.
- In Gaiden, Nosferatu is the only non-Falchion weapon which can harm Duma once he reaches 52 or less HP. This is assumed to be the result of a programming error. If a Nosferatu user kills Duma, the ending plays normally but has slight graphical glitches since it expects Alm to be the one to kill him. It keeps this ability in the remake, Shadows of Valentia, except that this time it is intentional and does not cause glitches.
- Some versions of the TearRing Saga: Yutona Heroes War Chronicles fan translation rename the dark magic spell Janura to "Nosferatu", presumably inspired by the two spells having similar effects.
