(Japanese: ロドルバンRoddlevan) is an Isaachian warrior, the twin brother of Radney and a member of Prince Shanan's anti-Grannvale resistance army at Tirnanog. When Tirnanog was beseiged by the Dozel occupation army, he set out with Seliph and his sister to repel them and free Isaach, initiating Seliph's liberation war.
Roddlevan is Ulster's substitute character, filling his role in the story and gameplay if Ayra died or failed to be married in the course of the first generation.
While scouting, Roddlevan observed the approach of King Danan's Grannvale forces toward Tirnanog and reported back this news, observing that it had been discovered as the hideout of Shanan's rebellion. On Shanan's orders in lieu of his absence, he strongly advised caution until such a time as Shanan and Oifey returned, but was overruled by Radney and Seliph's insistence, and so departed with the two and Lana to take on Grannvale.
According to Seliph and Radney, under most circumstances Roddlevan is hot-headed and eager when it comes to battle; however, this is balanced and sometimes outweighed by his sense of duty. To this end, when both Radney and Seliph were calling for departing to respond to the impending Grannvale assault on Tirnanog, he was uncharacteristically reluctant to allow them to just leap into battle, as Shanan had tasked him with protecting Seliph in his absence.[1] He tries to act friendly to Tristan, but his actions consistently annoy the latter, causing Tristan to act hostile and disinterested when Roddlevan attempts to converse; Roddelvan appears to be somewhat thoughtless in his comments about Tristan.[2]
In Chapter 6, Roddlevan can talk to Radney at any time, giving her +1 Luck.
In Chapter 7, Roddlevan has a hidden conversation with Tristan if both are under Level 10. After Melgen Castle has been seized, if Tristan waits next to Roddlevan, a conversation will occur which grants Tristan +2 Strength and +1 Speed and Defense, and grants Roddlevan +2 Strength, +1 Skill and Defense.
In the Endgame, if they are lovers, Lana or Mana can initiate a conversation with Roddlevan, awarding him +5 Resistance.
↑"I think Roddlevan is holding back because of me. I'm sure Shanan gave him strict orders to keep me out of danger. Because if Shanan hadn't, he would've been the first one out there. He is just itching to get into battle." — Seliph, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
↑"Roddlevan: Hey, Tristan. I got something to ask ya. Tristan: Oh... it's you. What? Roddlevan: Hey, show a guy a little respect, would ya? Anyway, I was just thinking. Do you think we're holding Sir Seliph back any? Tristan: We? Don't you mean YOU? I'm holding up my own out here. Roddlevan: Is that so? Alright, let me hear what you've done so far. Tristan: Ah, well... You know, I've... um... Roddlevan: See there? That's just what I'm saying. You can't think of anything, can ya? Tristan: Alright, alright! So what's your point? Roddlevan: Let's get a little dueling practice in. I want to move up to the front line! I doubt I'd learn a whole lot from you, but I'll do anything to avoid getting castle duty! Tristan: You know you've got a real crappy way of asking someone a favour? Just forget it. Roddlevan: Oh, c'mon! Look... Would you pretty please be my sparring partner with sugar on top? How about that!? Tristan: Where the hell do you get off!? Okay, I'll fight you... only to shut you up! You ready?" — Roddlevan and Tristan, Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
